I have a full set, but they still look like they are 40 years old. The hard part is making new centers. Originals were plastic that clipped in place. I made these out of AMC centers and Omni domes. The centers are solid on the wheel and the dome is held on with the original style metal clips so they can be removed to install tires. It works very good. I am not satisfied with the gap around the center where it meets the wheel. I may fill in with JB weld and repaint the gold after smoothing it out.
I refurbished a set a couple years ago. This is what I ended up with. I found some center caps from Jegs or Summit that were very close to the inside diameter. Then the inside diameter was enlarged to accommodate the new center caps.
Silver Bullet and Droptop, for those unexperienced on refinishing wheels, can you give a step by step process on what you did, to get the excellent results you obtained?
