Goes hand in hand. I drove into work yesterday. Was 70° and sunny. I forget the left lane is for 85 mphwith multiple overdrives and normal final drive ratios. Mine is anything but normal N50 is about 28 inches tall but turning what I believe to be a 4:30 ratio, but might be 4:10. Either way, fast lane is like 4500 RPM. That is not good after several minutes. So, on my way home, I grabbed 5 quarts of Valvoline and a new filter. It is a longer deeper filter. There was some oil burn off. At this rate I'll be oil changing this monthly if not twice a month. My plan is to stay in the slow lane and milk it at 50 mph. It will be difficult to near impossible to keep my right foot at bay. What I would give to get my hands on a T56 out of a Viper.

Quick of the lights or nice on the highway.
The fact that I go to the trailer almost every weekend from May to October is the only thing that's kept the 2.2's in my Fifth....

The other difficultly in this, I don't need to drop a gear to go around slower traffic. It is like a never ending powerband and just too much G D fun.

2.2 in the sluggo Fifth and 2.94's in the other two but powered by slants....Eve must be a blast.

Captain, I might want that 2.25 geared entire axle from you later...should trade you for something I find & check out.

Shipping from Canuckland would probably be a fortune.
Besides....as long as I have my trailer those gears are really nice for gas mileage.

The reason I am keeping the 3.23's w/ the od manual in the Aspen. The Mirada will have 2.94's w/ the auto. Both are highway machines. However, my 5.0 has 4.10's with a five speed manual. Those 4.10's were very highway friendly even with the AOD, before I converted it to manual.

Mustang 2300rpm @ 65mph w/ 4.10 (T-5z 5speed)

Aspen 2000rpm @ 65mph w/ 3.23 (A833 OD)

Mirada 2400rpm @ 65mph w/ 2.94 (auto lock up rpm not factored in)

Sounds like 2.94's wouldn't be a bad thing in the Fifth with lockup.

I wonder what size tires you are running with the Aspen?- bigblockdart.com 's tire speed ratio puts the 3.21 gear of the 8 1/4 with the 833 at 2050-2100rpm for over 70 mph for 27"+ size tires

This is what nocar340 recommended along with a 360 -which is what I plan on using in my Dodge Aspen build. 2000 rpm's for highway driving sounds awesome to me.
along with the same as 3.73 axle for first gear: 2.66 (regular-833) times 3.73 = 3.09 X 3.21 = :) a big smile on my face

I've always been a fan of tall gears, and wide ratios for the street.. I also love a nice, low idle, the slower the better. If it can shred tires at will I'm in hog heaven. :toothy9:
