Hey to all, I could use some guidance for my 85 Gran Fury's transmission. When I first brought the car home I assumed that it had a 904 trans in it. But when it gets up to the 50 mph range it shifts one more time. Does this mean that it's the 998 or 999 trans? Thanks, Craig.

It's a 999 with lockup torque converter.
The lockup is what you're feeling.....switches to 1:1. My Fifth has the same.

disclaimer:I may get corrected but that's what I've always known it to be.

2nd the capt. Mine locks at 50 too. Hell, even my van (1995) with the non OD trans (which was stock) locks the converter at 50. I think 50 is where you want the lock up to occur. If you drop your rearend gears it messes with it for sure
