When we get a carb either in person or by mail, first we consult with the customer on the application and collect as much info as possible on the vehicle. Then an inspection and disassembly, followed by cleaning. The method of cleaning will vary depending on the condition of the carb and what service is ordered (rebuild or restoration). We use a 3 stage solvent soak and scrub, ultrasonic cleaning, and 2 stage glass bead. And often combine methods. Followed by a hot water rinse and compressed air to clean internal passages and dry. Then we remachine all gasket surfaces to ensure a tight seal. Then, a touch hone of the throttle bores. Then we put it all together using top quality components and hardware, then make all initial adjustments and settings on the bench. Then it’s off to the test engine room to be run on our 358” test engine. It has a trans attached with a trans brake to test the carb under load. We then make final adjustments and notify the customer. The restorations go a bit further , they get all the linkage and hard parts stripped and replated with zinc and either yellow or clear chromate. The main bodies are stripped and recolored to the original color. Then re ink stamped where applicable. Rebuild prices are 1 bbl $130, 2 bbl $160, 4 bbl $185. Restoration 1 bbl $250, 2bbl $275, 4 bbl $385. Call for racing and custom work. These prices do not include the FMJ bodies 10% discount.
