Spark Plugs

Hi Guys,

I am getting a we box of goodies from the USA for my car, as things are so expensive down under I was wondering what is a good long life spark plug that would suit my 360 LA engine?

Engine has mid 1970s heads on it, suppose to have mild cam. Seems to idle ok.

I stick with what came from the factory, good quality American made, Champion copper plugs. No high tech multiple electrode things.

It should say on your core support..it's a r-something-12yc if I remember right. I've got a set in the garage, but I'm using magnum plugs which are different

I have the Bosch (7962) FR8LCX+ plugs and they are very good in winter. The car idles smoother and drives better. They are the same heat range as stock but with a projected nose that reaches deeper into the combustion chamber.

Ok, there are no interference issues, I don't know much about plugs but I have read articles on them and with wrong ones can damage performance. The car had a 1983 318 V8 now I have changed it to a mid 1970s 360, I think the block is early 70s and the heads were mid to late 1970s, the heads did not match the block. Bought it as a not long ago rebuilt engine and it seems to run ok

RN-12YC for Champion if my memory is working. Autolite 65s I think

By default, a plug protruding farther is going to be hotter, and you don't want that on a fresh motor. Hotter plug is more prone to detonation. Colder plug can run more timing, and lower octane fuel with all else being the same.

Engine is not a fresh rebuild but still has cross hatch marks in the bores, started up with no smoke or anything, good engine I think, had an exhaust leak so was a bit loud. Got exhaust leak sorted last night and put new oil seal in the 90 degree adapter so will be ready to start up again. I bought some plugs today, hope they are ok

I’m not going to recommend a plug brand or number.

I will recommend that if you are going to get some shipped there, you might as well purchase a few boxes of them.
