The EPA & your modified street car

I'm pretty sure SEMA is all over this. I have seen that the EPA is going to target aftermarket parts manufactures, not the cars directly. But it will affect all of it of course.

So since I didn't read the whole bill and also haven't heard a peep from some famous car guy, I dug some info from a US based car guy.

He basically said if I don't burn coal in a vehicle larger than 8500 GSW, have a good sleep.
But if the EPA starts there, the genie is out of the bottle.

That's exactly what I'm worried about.
One thing leads to another.

It is hard to know what to believe and what not to believe. However, when it comes to the out of control EPA, nothing surprises me anymore, no matter how stupid the regulation they come up with. That agency needs to be stopped before it totally ruins this country economically.

It angers me that the car hobbyist is a target of meatheads in anyway. Where was the EPA when they contaminated the Animas River in Colorado, the drinking water of Flint, and many other examples of where the EPA should have done a job and clearly did not. Attacking the car hobbyist is what I call small low hanging fruit. There are no big money Lobbyist filling the pockets of politicians in the car hobby corner. After seeing the Repub debate last night with fancy suits in the room with no real plan or purpose other than their own self preservation. I had to turn it off after it became a school yard meathead bichslap fest. I was waiting for it to go into "Your momma so ugly, she da reason yo daddy takes viagra........"

On the Summit Racing home page there's a link to SEMA and the SEMA Action Network. It has a link to the White House Petition.
What do you guys "up north" have for your version of the EPA? Is it just as much out of control, abusing it's power and coming up with ridiculous, economy ruining regulations as the U.S. EPA does? Just curious is all.

In a way, I'm almost sorry I "signed" the petition. Not for what it's for but since doing that I get about 8 million spam emails everyday. Used to get maybe 3 or 4 a week. Sucks how they sell or share a persons email address with every scam artist company in the land. But I'm not bitter......................

Maybe it's because I'm a Canuck. But I haven't gotten one.

Lucky s.o.b.! It had to be that site because I haven't given my email to anyplace else recently that didn't have it before. The day after signing it, POOF, 62 emails in the spam folder. I don't understand why. Who would be dumb enough to respond any of them??? Wait a second, never mind. There's probably a lot of people dumb enough, or naïve enough.

That's why I love the delete button. :D

Any car (or truck) over 20 years old has been exempt from emissions testing here in WI forever so now it's only '96 and newer that get tested. Plus, testing is only down in the SE corner of the state (Milwaukee, Kenosha, Racine area) anyways.

Isn't there a limit on cost where they would be exempt? Unless it's been changed, the cars in the SE counties of Wisconsin that have to be I/M tested (up to 20 years old) could still be exempt if the cost to make them compliant exceeded a certain amount. Don't remember for sure but I believe the amount may have been dependent on the age of the vehicle. In other words, they wouldn't make you spend $1,200 to make a car worth $600 pass the test for example.
