Hello,

I just joined and introduced myself in the Welcome Wagon forum. Some of you may have seen my user name, Vaanth, before. I have used it on several things and several places since I coined it in 1979.

In 1998, I wrote a document called "A Carter Thermo-Quad Guide" while on the Mopar Mailing List . It has become known as the "Vaanth Thermo-Quad Guide". Although it contained a fair amount of information, it had some gaps and had some errors. I have since re-wrote it, expanded it, and corrected it.

The updated Version 2 of the document, still in pure text form can be found at A Carter Thermo-Quad Guide, Version 2.0.

Another version in a basic web/HTML form can be found at A Carter Thermo-Quad Guide, Version 3.1.

Both of these versions, plus the original version (Version 1), and a simpler alternate HTML version (Version 3.0) are located at Vaanth Thermo-Quad Guide Site, along with some other Thermo-Quad reference information.

These are hosted on a Google Sites page. Google Sites is not ideal, but it is free, mostly works, and is relatively reliable. These updated versions are essentially complete. A possible future, fuller featured, Version 4 may be added later.

I also posted the same message on FABO, FBBO, and FEBO in the Fuel and Air Systems forum there.

FYI,
Gary aka Vaanth

Thanks for what you've done with that guide and keeping it up. It has been my go to for info especially to figure out the application for about as long as you've written it.

Ahhh, the MML, indeed, those were some good times!

What perfect timing this is too...I'm experiencing some troubles with my 9800 SuperQuad and searching high and low netted me absolutely nothing. I then remembered that you did recently publish an update to that guide and boy was I thrilled to see an updated 'Servicing Instructions' PDF in your OTHERs section of the site.

The one I had, being dated in 1976, did have a mistake when it comes to the choke level setup, and sure enough, the 1981 version does correct that number. Worked beautifully on my TQ...now further work to address my extremely RICH secondaries can progress further having ruled out some of the starting points!

BTW - before you posted here I was actually going to reach out and ask if you would like the older '76 9800 Servicing Instructions, and while they are incorrect in a specific step, they do make up the complete library of the 9800 series publications.

Vaanth,

Thank you for sharing your knowledge. It is giving me some confidence and willingness to find and explore these legendary carbs.
Much appreciation for your generosity, and efforts to keep the knowledge of the TQ accessible.
