well, i mentioned setting up a mad rush build jamming a twin turbo 440 into my problem child aspen for a drag and drive event over here in aus, we made it..

what a fecking week, an emotional event this year to sort the men from the trailer queens, we've had snapped alternator studs, heat soak, boiling fuel and pressure issues, overheating, keeping hotel patrons awake by hacking holes in a bonnet at 11:30 at night, the wrong converter not giving us anything till after the 60 foot mark, thrown belts and cooked batteries on a car thrown together in 5 weeks (2 of which I was away at work)

but that was nothing compared to the blown diffs, gearboxes, engines changed in the pits so someone can make their pass and stay in, dry nitrous kits getting fitted in the dark, cam changes overnight and all sorts of overtired alcohol infused shenanigans that the cameras can't show.

made lots of new mates, everyone had help offered from everywhere, and the announcement it's on again for next year has us keen to go again..

for angus to come 3rd in young guns and then collecting the Harry's hero trophy for being a dickhead has made a great week epic.. extatic

thought you'd appreciate, a few videos on youtube covering the event also below;

Okay ... I'll bite... just what does it involve to get a dickhead trophy?

Looks like a good time was had all the way around.

ha, cheers,

the Harry's hero trophy was for cobbling together a car out of unknown parts in only a few weeks, throwing my family in and putting it on a 11 hour ferry crossing to compete in the event.. with no backup plan to get home again..

there was also a Harry's shitshow, which went to a guy that blew a motor in the burnout, was donated the engine out of another blokes car, fitted it in the pits then made his last pass to complete the event

Rolling my eyes --- now that I re-read my response it sure looks a lot like I said I was biting a dickhead .... I've apparently lost my filter -- so to speak.

Jeeze.

I’m sorry I was having a little fun without actually saying it.

Oldiron440,
Kinda choppy, but definitely having some good days now.
Was invited to attend a 'Blue Christmas' sermon at St Matthews church in Dallas. I had never heard of a Blue Christmas sermon before..

Bought a new sweater for it, wore my good boots and my good jeans -- its about a 1 1/2 hour trip each way to get there. I did fine until the last 20 minutes of the event and then just got overwhelmed by sadness. But the extra kleenex I brought came in handy until I got my act back together.

Decided no fancy xmas dinner... instead I'm going with Lays potato chip baked chicken.

Brian (DarthCar) called tonight to check on me and we had a great chat for about 30 minutes. He had plenty advice on draining the gas from tank for both the 5th avenue and the Lebaron. Tried talking me into using the forks on the tractor to raise the car rear end to make it easier to get to the line. Say Whauut?? His wife's dad is a farmer in Ohio and I think its warped his brain.

This evening I watched my favorite Christmas Movie -- Die Hard

Tomorrow is going back up to mid 60's so I'll try to get back to draining gas.

Found out I am inheriting a non-running 1956 4-door chevy belair and a first generation non-running VW beetle. My aunt died in January this year and she decided I should have those two lovely jewels. I know nothing about an air-cooled engine and the 50's technology hasn't been anything I've every experienced either. But it all will wait until I get my LeBaron running again.

Still not getting good sleep. Getting anything over 4 hours in a row is rare. Can't tell you how many times I look over to talk to my mister about something only to realize he isn't there. Which makes me sad, but the sad doesn't overwhelm me like it did in June.

thanks for checking on me though.. ;)

JW you might enjoy that old VW, as far as the air cooled engine you can think of it as a complex lawn mower engine and you’re fine. The simplicity of the car is refreshing. It’s funny that both the VW and the 56 have such a strong following and you wouldn’t have trouble moving either one.

ok guys, on the way home we did ourself a mischief and nailed a grille, what's the chance there's someone here that has an average one they'd be interested in boxing and freighting to 7321 Australia for a fee?

thanks in advance guys

Edit:: I'd also be interested in some decent tail lights, even volara ones while I'm going
