The Youngstown U-Pull It in Ohio has an 86 Fifth Ave with red leather interior and a black 85 in stock. I pulled some pillar plastics off the 86 and the 85 arrived just a short time after my visit. There's also a J-Body Cordoba, though not listed on their inventory. Here's a couple pics from the 86, I'll post pics of the others when I go back up. I'm mainly going back to retrieve the air cleaner housing and to tear into the dash some more to learn what work is involved in getting to replace the dash lights on my own car.

That brake booster is probably old and rotted inside. That's a lot of work for a used 40 year old booster

I've never had one go bad but not sure if Id bother with a used one I couldn't test first too. Climbing up inside a dash on a disgusting floor and dealing with nuts in tight spaces to get to it. Then again for the cost of rebuilt ones I might risk it.

If it's only the outside of yours that looks bad you can clean it up and paint it.

OK that's bad. The parts store type ones are rebuilt which is why I said you might as well clean up your old one if it was still good.

I've honestly never removed a brake booster before and wasn't sure how much work was involved, but I see the recommendations for buying a rebuilt unit and I've also seen where people order new ones that are for K-cars. They say they work and they are a little smaller, which makes it easier to work on other stuff in the booster vicinity, like the valve covers. I won't be making the trip up there this weekend though because I hit a deer last night at almost 60mph and need to drop the truck off at the body shop this afternoon. The plan now is for the week of Thanksgiving when we have a shutdown if I have the truck back by then. My throttle body for the Fifth Ave is in the mail too on the way to the shop, so hopefully I'll have both my vehicles back by Thanksgiving.

On a side note, if anyone here is in the Youngstown area or want to check the cars out during that time, hit me up. Be cool to meet up with someone else from here. I've only met Davesmopar so far when I bought that 8 1/4 from him 3 years ago.

Sorry to hear that and glad you're ok. i just went and ordered a booster from an auto parts store. i do have eyes for that radio though. maybe other misc doo dads like the hood, trunk. tail lights, hood ornaments. Ohio is just a little too far for me but hope someone can get up there before they're crushed. M's in scrap yards are a rarity here and are often crushed very quick. i had missed a Fury in a Baltimore scrap yard a year back that was real nice and a Fifth that was right in the too be crushed pile in Edgewood.

I'm still planning the week of Thanksgiving. I don't anything about the black car yet, other than it's an 85, but the white one I bought stuff from was missing the ornament and the Fifth Avenue nameplate on the trunk lid. The passenger side tail light assembly was broken, which seems like a sad case for so many of these cars. One of the chrome headlight frames, I think it was the passenger side, was cracked through the metal. You're right about these not being in many junkyards, or at least advertised. I drove 7 hours to Kentucky to pick a an opera light assembly and landau trim piece for my 88 and luckily ordered the other opera light assembly off E-Bay. I've seen radios for these on E-Bay as well. If you're on Rumble, I posted a video of that white car there. Only thing I can say about the black one, from a pic a friend of mine sent, is that the front park/turn signal lenses are yellowed like the white one I was working with.

I actually made the trip up today since the weather changed for the better. I took all I’m going to take from these cars and am finished now. I found a 1980 Mirada, damn what a waste of a nice car. The 85 Fifth Avenue has sat for 15 years and the subframe and floor are pretty much shot. I’ve never seen an M-Body looks so rotted out lol. The seats and carpet are in decent shape, though the seats could use a scrubbing. There were no keys for the Mirada or the black Fifth Avenue, so no way to get into the trunks without causing damage. The first 3 pics are the black Fifth Avenue, the rest are the Mirada.

Sadly, I remember seeing many F, M, and J- bodies in the salvage yards that were rusted even worse, way back in the mid '80's to mid '90's. :(

I should have taken more pics of the white one, actually the Mirada too. The Mirada almost seems criminal to be in the scrap yard. But that car and the white Fifth Ave. looked fairly decent underneath. The subframe on the white one needed a little tlc, but was salvageable, unlike the black one. What I could see of the Mirada's subframe looked pretty decent too. Something about that Mirada makes the 7 1/4 look particularly tiny. There's some good stuff left on all 3 cars still. I've taken all I can use from the Fifth Avenues and am not planning any other trips for parts for a while. I drove by the shop before I went to Youngstown and found that my car was back inside. My Sniper throttle body had made it back from Texas with a new ECU and fuel injectors. I hope this week I will get to do pics and a video of that, though I already posted a video of how the engine bay looks with the Sniper on Rumble.
