The R/T pickups use regular pickup exhaust manifolds. Now the exhaust after the manifolds might be different (not checked).

Magnum exhaust manifolds come in two different flavors (pickup, Dakota, Durango & B-van vs. Jeeps). For simplicity, I will use Dodge (pickup, Dakota, Durango & B-Vans – which are all the same) vs. Jeep (Grand Cherokee)
’94-03 Dodge versions:
94-03 Mag Tr Lt ExM.jpg

Left (Cast # 53010187)

94-03 Mag Tr Rt ExM.jpg

Right (Cast # 53010186)
Note: The ’92-93 pickup versions (the last two years of production of the ’71-93 trucks) – look close to the above two parts. I doubt they will fit - but one or both might (I just don't recall what they look like). Casting numbers 53006618 and 53006619.

’93-98 Jeep versions
93-98 GC Lt ExM.jpg

Left (’93-98 Cast # 53009377) - 2-1/8” inner diameter

93-95 GC Rt ExM.jpg

Right (’93-95 Cast # 53009376).
96-98 GC Rt ExMr.jpg

Right (’96-98 Cast # is not known).

The Dodge version – the rear of exhaust manifold (either side) outlet will want to occupy the same space as your firewall - so modification of firewall will be needed (so not advisable).

The Jeep version outlet is between the two rear cylinders and fit fine in all older (~’60-’89) RWD Chrysler passenger cars, I’m told, except for some A-body’s.

The early Magnum exhaust manifold outlet size is 2-1/8” inner diameter. The newer Magnum outlet diameter is 1-7/8” diameter – so a minor item to look for. If you have a Jeep manifold with casting number marked above, and it is 1-7/8” – you might be able to spend a little time porting it out a little, if that is something you are into.

Here is a Left side Jeep manifold selling for $24.99 (+ freight) – that I would highly recommend anyone considering this changeover – to jump on

(Note: I already have one – just waiting to install it).

One thing to consider is the A.I.R. ports on existing cylinder heads, will need to be plugged before these will work. Another thing to keep in mind is in cold climates, you will need to fabricate a heat stove for air cleaner hot air supply. Those in warm climates (or using fuel injection) will not need to worry about that.

I also talk about more this at this link https://www.forfmjbodiesonly.com/classicmopar/threads/headers-for-j-body.6361/#post-80339

If I recall correctly the RT package was an appearance package with a less restrictive and slightly louder cat back exhaust. IIRC again, my 99 Ram 1500 Sport 5.9 produced 250 HP vs the 245 all other Ram 5.9 v8s produced due to the exhaust. Mopar parts sold Magnum RT heads with 2.02 intake valves for a while. I don't know if they were any better than stock Mag heads as far as cracking is concerned. They were never installed at the factory. If you want cast iron manifolds for a car swap, get a set off a grand Cherokee. They are supposed to fit and work.

going to 360 in an 82 mirada -header space doesn't look good on pass side-whats everyone using-stock cast or? thanks
I used Sanderson "shorty" headers on my 360 Mirada. They worked fine.

I've used both of these:
1) 78050 HEADERS, Headman Headers
2) 5901 HEADERS, Hooker Competition headers

I like the Hooker brand better...just have a beefier feel to them, maybe even thicker tube wall?
how hard r they to install and the fit after? thinking of the headmans

Well, as with most of the Mopar SB headers you need to pull apart the steering linkage...but overall, not that bad of a job. What helped me is going to the smaller starter as well, it does free up some room.

Now something I can not comment on is how much of an issue is the transmisison shift linkage. I seem to remember the instructions specifically addressing some changes but since I went to a B&M floor mounted shifter I completely did away with the hard linkage and moved over to steel wire stuff, basically the Lokar things you can buy.

kick down linkage could be an issue?
I have not ran across an exhaust system interfering with the 3-piece kickdown linkage, before.
That said - your exhaust system might be a first for me.

The column shift linkage - with its Z-bar, can interfere with dual exhaust.

There are three different exhaust manifolds used for 318/360 Magnums in Grand Cherokees:
’93-98 Left Casting number 53009377 / Part number 53009379
’93-95 Right Casting number 53009376 / Part number 53009378
’96-98 Right Casting number not sure / Part number 53030869
The Part number is what you want if going to order one from Jeep. The Casting number is what everyone else uses.

The differences on the two right side exhaust manifolds is a pad an EGR valve tube attaches to. This pad can be blocked off using a piece of steel, a gasket and a few minutes to make a plate.

It is very possible that both Right manifolds use the same casting number – but only one is drilled for the EGR tube.
I hadn’t seen a ’96-98 manifold yet, to know.

The pair above looks to be a good deal.

You can see the picture of Right manifold of the hole that needs plugged – but it also looks like should be easy job on the bench.

I’m not sure why one manifold is $5 more expensive (and $6 higher freight) than other size is. I would bet a person would give a “best offer” for both and save 20-25$ (maybe).

I used the Hedman's on my Miranda. You want to use the factory heat shield on the starter so it doesn't burn up. Didn't have any problems changing plugs. Use Champion.
