A user has suggested to me that we add a K body forum to the site --

I'm just looking to see what you all think about this? Yes or no?

I am the one who has posed the question to Joey. I have been a member of the A-Body and C-Body Forums. I've owned a 64 Valiant, 65 Dart and a 67 Monaco. Currently I own a 86 Plymouth Reliant. I am a member here.

There doesn't seem to be much interest online about K Cars. At least none that I've found. I like the Forums that Joey has put together. I like the people here. I really like the attitudes that most members have displayed, very helpful. K cars were made at same time as many M & J cars. Sort of cousins. I asking you all if a K Body Subsection of this Forum could be added here? I don't want to impose my will, but rather hope that you all would allow me and other K car owners to have a home here. Regardless of your thoughts I'll still check this place out as F,M and J cars are similar, at least in time, to K cars. Just looking for place to call home. That's all!

if anything they deserve their own full FWD forum site along with other FWD variants. Like a K-FWDbodiesonly forum. Between them and minivans there should be more then enough enthusiasts out there to make it successful.

Other then being made by Chrysler at the same time they don't have much in common with FMJ they're a different generation. FMJ is more related to the older mopars.

We owned a light blue 1984 or 85 Caravan, with 3 row seating and a manual tranny. I remember that 3rd seat, which was removable, weighed a ton! I can't remember if we had a '84 or '85. Bought from Bill Pierre Dodge on Lake City Way in Seattle.

I'm with Mike on this. It would make more sense if such a site would include L-bodies, K-bodies & possibly the P-car (Shadow & Sundance). However, the demographics for front-drive cars could be quite different (including the tuner crowd). If you look through the various for...bodiesonly sites, you can see many common advertisers. So the tricky part is whether these same ads would work on a FWD site.

If that is the consensus then so be it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained...
Will Let few more people add their thoughts.

K-cars are hugely popular but everyone I know is in their 20s or 30s and on Instagram. They don't visit boards like this.

I'm in favor of adding additional letters to our site. We (FMJ) are not, nor will be as large as A, B, C or E- bodies are – so more car lines will not matter.

I agree there is not much similarity between FMJ's and the FWD's - but there is more similarity than one thinks. Steering columns (Saginaw) and automatic transmissions come to mind, along with other items. If you can rebuild an A904 then not much difference to rebuild an Chrysler FWD automatic transaxle (IMO).

Unrelated – I think, I've worked on more Chrysler FWD cars in the '80's than I did on FMJ's

If we were were to add (which I'm in favor to do), the next question is groupings and such.
K/E-body (81-89) is pretty much all but what is mentioned (below)
L-body (Omni/Horizon) is a step child to all of the other lines (78-90)
G/H/J/Q-body (84-93) – Daytona/Laser/Lebaron/Lancer/TC
P-body (87-94) – Shadow/Sundance
S-body – Minivan (84-present)
I would consider these to be “80ish: FWD's

then it goes from there:
C-body (88-93 Dynasty/New Yorker)
AA-body (89-95 Spirit/Acclaim)
Y-body (90-93 Fifth Ave/Imperial)
LH-body (93-04 full size)
PL-body (95-05 Neon)
JA-body (95-00 Stratus/Cirrus/Breeze)
And so on.

Except for SUV/Minivans/Jeeps/Fiat, Chrysler has gotten out of the FWD business – so I guess a person could open it up to all Chrysler FWD – if one is to do it. I don't mind helping out – if wanted.

The next question would be sponsorship – for I see that being an important but different issue all together.

Well - my concern is would there be enough interest --- meaning new members --- for those additional cars..

Just my 2 cents here but i think either way these guys need some sort of support. You don't see to many of those K cars on the road anymore and the tuner guys aren't much help to them unless they swapped in a 4g63 or something like that, but as far as keeping them original and as good daily's there is almost no support. I always think back to what Jay Leno said once (which is what made me find this forum in the first place. joined and realized I needed this more than I could have ever known) " Whatever car your into there's a club for it and if you want to find out more about that car join the club and start asking questions. If your shopping around Your most likely to find a good condition car that's been taken care of in that club." That might not be exactly what he said but that's the jist of it.

Edit: funny thought but after typing this made me think how cool it would be to see a 86 reliant with AWD and a turbo 4g63 but that's my old high school self coming out

Which to me is why it could use its own site. If you include all fwd and minivans into it there's close to 40 years of cars it could cover. All it needs is a good starting point and like the movie says if you build it they will come. If one person is looking for a place and that's what started the whole discussion chances are good others are too.

Turbo-Mopar.com and Turbododge.com really have the entire L, K, and EEK platforms covered. The Shelby Dodge Automobile Club (SDAC) has also proven very welcoming of their plebeian Naturally Aspirated brethren. The community seems to be receding slightly with The Great Turbo Elders (who were in their 20s during the 1980s) finally hitting retirement ages. But they still put on one hell of a yearly convention... when it's not being postponed for "social distancing."

Those platforms are too dissimilar to the F/M/J. If you were going to go down that route then combining FMJO, FABO, & FBBO wouldn't be that much of a logical leap.

Outstanding Idea! Many run well, handle good, and get great mpg.

I thought there was a K-car forum, when I had my 600 (pretty much an Aries with the roof cut off) I remember there being one and even posting pictures of it there. Is it not around anymore?
