Need help understanding wire diagram out I the Haynes book.
The only Legend they have in the book is for wire color.
My first question has to with whats highlighted with the red box in the pic. Wires are listed as;
A1 GRD
S5 14BR
A1 12RD
S5 14BR
What does the A1,S5 mean?
What does the 14,12 mean?

My second question has to with the purple highlights.
What does the Dimonds mean, also numbers inside? Some diamonds have a square connected with numbers/letters inside, what do they mean?
Thanks for all your help

A1 GRD...A1= Battery Positive cicruit, it's a 6 not a G gauge of wire, RD=Red
S5 14BR...Same idea, 14 guage wire, BR=Brown
A1 12RD
S5 14BR
What does the A1,S5 mean? Circuit identification codes
What does the 14,12 mean? Guage of wire
Diamonds identify splices in harness...all of this information is in the wire diagram legend in the manual.

Thanks. I looked hard for the legend and all I found was what the color code was. I sure appreciate it...really

The s5 type numbers and diamonds also help you follow the wires thru the connectors or different diagrams.

A Haynes manual may not have all the information the actual factory service manual has, such as the legend for wiring schematics.

Haynes (and the thinner Chiltons) manuals are almost not worth the paper they are printed on. In this case, Haynes copied select pages from the FSM (Factory Service Manual) without the legend attached.
It is like looking at a copy of a large paper street map that someone cut out a very small part/segment to give to you to use.

I looked and found nothing as to what year Diplomat you have (you might want to add this to your signature page), so I took a stab (on the year) and looked on eBay for a '84 FSM and found one without looking too hard: 1984 Dodge Chrysler Plymouth Technical Service Manual RWD Car Vol 1 & 2 | eBay .
Here is one for a '88 : 1988 88 MoPar Dodge Plymouth RWD Service Manual 5th Avenue Diplomat Gran Fury M6 | eBay .

If you find one but not sure if the correct one, or not, post a link here and we can answer for you. Either way, a $20ish FSM is far superior than the other, before mentioned, manual want-a-be's are.

On a different note, what are you trying to figure out, exactly?

What Bud said is true. The Haynes offers just enough info and pictures to render a shade tree mechanic lethal. Used FSM are easily found on FeeBay for under $20 and well worth it after their first use

Especially when you can get them so cheap.

I do have to say the Haynes manual for these cars is the only somewhat decent Haynes manual I've had so far. Between largely based off an 80s diplomat and chrysler never changing much from the 70s I used mine quite a bit before I got my hands on factory manuals. Pre ebay days. There are some procedures in it that are quicker and straight to the point compared to the factory one. I have one for another car that is so useless it would be like using the m body book to fix an lhs.

Maybe this will help a bit?

FSM scans, 1980 model year, so some things will be different, but in general the diagram legend still applies.

Thank you. The legend is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much.
On my 88 DDiplomat (that I was given! :) )
I was replacing water pump, valve cover and intake manifold gaskets. Oh forgot, lean burn delete so I was slowly removing the wires not needed any more. Im painting engine bay also. So right this is what I'm focusing on.
Again thanks so much
