Bought Myron's wagon from him.
Originally I was going to bracket race it.
I decided to put my Son's wife behind the wheel & run it in Stock Eliminator.
Should be a fun season this year.
Finally got to make a pass in front of my house today, I'm digging it!

Let us know if we can ever be of any Help.
We have raced Aspens for 20 years in Stock and Superstock
and still run several.
 
Run the small cam 360 as it is quite a bit
lower HP rated and my stocker cams are not
showing much difference in HP with the additional lift.
The big cam just got a bunch of extra HP put on it by NHRA
a few weeks ago!

We ran our Wagon in I/SA as it did not like to carry the
weight required to run J/SA. It ran as fast as 11.30s prior
to getting factored from 270 to 289HP. Our Wagon weighs
3280 wet without my fat butt in it and has no special weight reduction done
to it.

As long as you can run the index and a little under you will be OK as
very few Heads Up races in the lower classes.

I just happen to have a small cam on the shelve
 
Something 250 to 260 @ 050 is a good fit.
Be sure to have a good valve spring.
I run Beehives (Hard to get under 200 on the seat)
but the old Isky springs that I set up
@ 160/165 on the seat work great and are
easier on the Cam lobe. I think 3105 number
but I am not sure of the number as it has been a while
and I am old.

The profiles we run are FAST and do not short the spring
pressure and be sure lifters are rotating.

I have a Comp cam right in that range.
 
Didn’t McCandless race a black wagon in stock back in the 70s and 80s?
 
Do not remember seeing it.

My boy has been racing ours since 2005.

He is the youngest person to ever win a National
NHRA race. 15 and 7 months. (We live in Rural town
in Nevada where you could get a full Driver's license at 15 1/2.

Now you can no longer ra12ce a National race until you turn 18.

I borrowed it (Sits a lot in the shop these days) For Winternational
this year when my regular Stocker was broken. We got to the final 4
beating the current World Champion and a couple of former Champs
along the way.

With the 318 in it = It is 12 Seconds of Boredom plus a 1/2 Second of PANIC!

I’m glad someone sees the value in the Fbody as a drag car, I’ve had two wagons but my coupe is the horsepower whore.
 
We also run a 80 Aspen 318 SS/NA that runs in the 10s.
Former Hot Rod Mag. "Project Bracket Bird" then converted
in to 80 Aspen and run by Paul Rossi/Larry Harroll.
We rescued it from a yard where it had sat for 30+ years.
 
That’s what my grandson tells me, I’m old! 66 years here…
