Well, going by the radar it looks like you'll be spared all the precipitation we got over the last 24 hours... I hope that's true for your sake. Guesstimate is that we've already gotten around 8" and it's still coming down. Grrrr...

Only problem is there's still lots of ice left on the lake to thaw yet.
Yikes!!

You must be pretty far down "the mitten", Monkeyed. My sister is from Indian River and said last Wednesday there were still snowbanks taller than her...

yup Grand Rapids. we have a place "up north", but that's even an hour south of Traverse.

The ice that's on water/at water level won't raise the water level when it melts, though. Its mass is already displaced by sitting in/on the water. Precipitation and snowbanks are your enemy now...

Bring a boat, waterskis and a camcorder. I'll give you $100 if you can stick the landing on the fold-down step on the first try. :icon_biggrin:

$200. $150 if you let me drive the boat--I was raised in a waterskiing family. $500 if you let me drive the boat and pretend you're my older brother. :eusa_dance:

It better be nice tomorrow! I've got to spend three hours on my feet, next to a lake, participating in re-enactments of the stations of the cross. My 85 yr old parents join me every year. The weather has been mild, to really nice (so far), but this winter refuses to surrender. They're calling for a high of 60F with a 20% chance of precipitation. We'll see!

Deal.....it's a cakewalk.
I just gotta make sure I don't pull a Sonny Bono when I come of the deck. :toothy6:

Apparently you're not familiar with the relationship I have with my older brother. I don't drive cleanly with him in tow.

That sounds quite pretty, especially if the weather agrees.

Well I'm heading north tomorrow to see this madness for myself.
Looks like we dodged a bullet but there will be lots of cleanup after the lake returns to the.....uh.....lake.
I'll be back Sunday with the report
Judging by the pics my buddy sent me today the fire won't be at my pit tomorrow night.
That's my fire pit by the picnic table.
My entire lower garden is now a lake.
Just for perspective....that thing just to the right of the picnic table is a bench that sits just before a roughly eight foot dropoff down into the lower section of my lot.

You must look for the silver lining. You likely won't have to buy a burn permit. :eusa_doh:

That's for sure.....
It's a private park so I don't need one.
But it won't be an issue either way for a while....

The silver lining is my trailer isn't floating.
Other parks around there have floating trailers right now....

Just got back today from inspecting the floodage for myself.
Never seen anything like this in the eleven years I've been there.
Normally there's a good stretch of land from my deck to the lake.
Yesterday we pulled the paddleboat up to almost my steps and launched from there.

Hope everyone had a nice Easter. Hit the low 70's here. Nothing but blue skies, getting my Dad's riding mower ready to cut for yet another season, grazing heavily on ham, & all the fixin's. Celebrated my son's 30 th birthday as well. Now I really feel old! Oh well, I'm already in that last age group of 55 & up. Maybe today I can get some of my own work done, after I take the wife up for a biopsy (Yikes!). Those of you so inclined, please offer up a prayer for her. Thanks, Larry
