Flares On An M?

Has anybody ever seen this?
Specifically, I'm talking about F-body Supercoupe flares on an M-body coupe...
Yeah, I get that it sounds goofy, but with the parts-sharing of the F and M bodies, I just wonder if it's possible. It might take some mods to make it look right.

My vision always includes some subtle body mods. Usually trim shaving and smoothing things out... but I'm a little bit intrigued by the idea of fender flares (body color, of course... I'm not a maniac) as one of those additions that makes people go, "hmmmm, why does this look different? What makes it so much bad-ass-er...?".

I can't think of a way the would look good but please prove me wrong

I was thinking of modding the f chin spoiler and make a dove tail spoiler never did

I think they look good with mild body mods too

Yeah... me niether. The rest of the body is too formal to pull it off if subtlety is the goal. I was kind of envisioning a "what if" BMW M3/Audi Quattro fighter.
Now, the smaller "spats" might look pretty good, IF ya could find a set... and they could be made to fit neatly.
I also like the chin spoiler idea. The bumpers on these things are like railroad ties... trying to slick them up and tuck them in will be a huge deal. I think I'll just leave em be too.

Spike did sorta tuck the bumper on his using a fairmont bumper there aluminum and narrowed I would post a like to a photo but he used photobucket

I had a one pc 80's MAS front spoiler on a M.
It looked good....BUT.

Since I have more than one M, I'd forget about the spoiler and hit the parking curb.
Did it twice.

That's pretty wild. I remember seeing thos pics a few yrs ago... maybe it was here. It looks like they did a urethane(?) rear treatment too, but I've never seen pics from that angle.

I haven't seen a Fairmont in years. My high school GF had a Merc Zephyr (like, a '78?) which was weird because she was from a "car family"... Dad drove a rodded 327 50 Ford coupe and a 68 GTO he bought new. Mom had a 56 Chevy and lil sis had a Z/28... this was early 80s.
The Zephyr eventually went away and she got a 66 Impala convertible, which made a lot more sense.
Man, she looked good in that '66.

F-body flares on an M-body.
If a person was to remove the chrome trim (under doors, wheel well and door glass surround chrome) – and if a person was to find the Load Runner, err, station wagon sport trim – then it might work (no promises, though).
Note: on 4-door vehicles, the front half of rear (2-door) flairs will want to occupy the same space - which is why I'm recommending the sport wagon (4-door) flares.

Personally, my goal for my ’86 Fifth Ave is the stealth or sleeper look - so flares are not for me (in my case).

That said – it might actually look pretty good.

I'll generally let the car's design language tell me what it wants and try not to push it past it's limits design-wise.
I've always dug the Trans-Am (the race, not the Firechicken) road-race asthetic and that's the direction I was headed w my 76 Cordoba... a phantom La Carerra Panamericana racer. It even had a name, The Highland Park Project.
I never got it to final paint, I still needed NACA ducts for the rear brakes and I was mocking-up designs for heat-extractors in the front 1/3 of the hood (thank you Mustang GT500KR for the idea). I was experimenting with "forced patina" on modern/retro contingency stickers and various enamels for the hand painted lettering. Anyone who knows anything about the La Carerra Panamericana race would know that a 1976 model year anything would be ineligible... but who cares, cool is cool and it would have opened some great conversations.

The Lebaron coupe wants some subtle mods... a Men In Black vibe. Understated, underrated, and underestimated. That was always my vision for when I finally got ahold of one, so that's where I'm going. I may even try to find an A-pillar spotlight...
