Anyone ever make up a center console for their car? A few years back I got my hands on another passenger seat from a red leather 5th and adapted it to the driver's power track for buckets. I've tried mocking up a couple out of cardboard before I build, but I haven't liked any of them. Would be nice to have room to mount gauges in it - that's what the extension was meant to be to the left of the Pepsi bottle. Ideas?

Thanks guys.

NUTS. I just realized I posted this in the wrong forum, sorry. Can a mod move it? Thanks.

I need a day in the wreckers and a measuring tape.
Has to be some late model offerings since there's lot of consoles out there.

Now if a late Mercury Marauder shows up, I'd like to measure.

That's exactly what I want to do.
Get another passenger seat and adapt it to the driver mechanism.
Then get another driver mechanisim and adapt it to the passenger seat.

Then both front seats would be mechanized.

I definitely plan to add a center console to my car after the 300c SRT8 buckets are in. I haven't found anything that trips my trigger yet...

You don't need to modify the driver's track. I used two pieces of angle iron to adapt mine. The seat will actually bolt to the driver's frame, but when you go to put it into the car it'll hit the B pillar, so I used the angle iron to shift it over a couple inches.

Wasn't bad at all. I used a couple wrenches, a hand drill, center punch and a 6" angle grinder to fab the brackets. Worst part was pulling the seat in and out of the car multiple times for measurements. Damn thing is heavy!

Yeah, same issue here: went junkyard trolling for months and never found anything I liked, so I thought I would make one. That isn't turning out any better unfortunately.

I found one at Wallmart for $30 that I put in my Volare. It fits Snug enough that I haven't bolted it down, yet. It has 2 cup holders for the front & 2 for the back and a very flimsy lockable compartment, also a coin holder. I plan on dyeing it and doing other mods eventually.

Pictures?

I have a bunch of aftermarket ones that I have purchased. None of them work.
Well, take that back – they do work . . . just as long as you don’t put a drink in either drink hole

I have one of these too, just aching to dump my beverage on the floor at the first chance. I was planning to weld a couple of bungs to the trans tunnel and tap them, affix the thing with screws. I abandoned this when I went for the buckets. Also, the ashtray conflicts with larger cups. So, console with cup holders is the new plan...

This is setting over the tabs for the original center cushion. It fits good, just planning on some dye & mods before I bolt it to those tabs. Big Gulps are a little tough when shifting.

What is that console out of?

Think of it as “getting better fuel mileage”, hehe.
The same with my '97 Dodge pickup, with an cup holder that attaches to center seat lid. They say it also improves fuel mileage with those with manual transmissions (which I have, but not the console attachment, yet).

I wonder if there is space under the bottom of the storage compartment so you could use a profile gauge to fit the console to the trans tunnel contour. If so, this plus some plastic paint to color match wouldn't be too bad.

I have also been considering installing a Havis police console. They obviously don't make one for the car but it's steel so it can be fabricated to fit. I got to know them while I worked as an installer building police vehicles for about 8 months. Would be a cool place to install a CB radio as well...

Yes, there is room for contouring. But it's a pretty close fit to begin with.

I wasn’t thinking the exact wording Duke5A used – but yea, I don’t see it happening.
