Well yeah but, you're an old grouch:D
Ended up with 16" of that crap. I'm just glad it was the semi-light type instead of heavy and wet stuff.

Here in Western Wisconsin we have had about three feet of snow in the past week, unusual even for us. It is getting old. Luckily, my nifty newly painted Mirada is comfy warm in its own shed.

We ended up with 18", a new record for a single day snowfall total. Not the kind of record I want to have broken. I swear the snow on my roof is 4 feet deep. At least its all light, dry type snow otherwise we could have a situation. Bad is the icicles on the front of the house (south side). They go all the way to the ground, can't even see out the windows. The ice and water membrane goes up 6ft from the eaves so hopefully that's enough.

You need a roof shovel like my neighbor has, he stands on the ground and pulls snow off his roof.

I thought about that, but they are all sold out around here. Usually this isn't a problem, and prob still isn't. Like said above, it is light fluffy stuff. Just hope it blows off before a heavy spring rain. As I write this I am looking at the shed where my Mirada sits. It is a pretty red little barn shape, snow and mouse tight, but there is a lot of white stuff on top. Sure would hate to have the roof cave in. There is so much snow around it, can't even open the swinging doors to get to the car unless I shovel for a great long time. My shed with the Kawasaki mule has a traditional garage door on it, I can open that just fine, but no where to go with yard deep snow in the yard. Funny thing, up until a few weeks ago with only a few inches of snow on the ground, all the snowmobile trails were closed but I had my little Mule all over them. It was so much fun and I told my neighbor that I was pretty smart to have bought that instead of a Skidoo, now he zooms by on his snow machine with a big smile on his face. Oh well, come spring I not only will have the Mirada to cruise in, but my 3 season Mule for the back country hills (plus some work around here, as that is how I justified the cost to the missus.)

Do you need some attic insulation? Ice cycles usually suggest that. Wausau is a nice town, BTW. I like the hiking up on Rib Mountain.

I heard that we , us in the north central region of Iowa have received over 60" of snow this year. Now I don't know who has been responsible for thinking snow but it's time to think spring. Ok

In the 80s, as a young Marine, I got stationed in Bremerton (Washington state) for a short time.
"What's it like?"
"It rains all the time but it never snows", I was told.
Got there during one of the hottest summers on record (regular high 90s-100+), then and 30+ inches of snow before Thanksgiving... I was sure that particular someone was messing w me.
Then, 25 yrs in the CA and AZ desert... not much in the way of snow.
Now, back in the PNW (Portland) I'm dealing w snow and ice again. No, not here in P-land... I'm a trucker and run out to ID, MT, eastern WA and OR. Montana has had a RUDE amount of snow this year along with negative-double digit temps... I'm only running MT because our driver was in a 5 truck, multiple fatality pileup outside of Missoula right before Christmas (black ice caused, very tragic story).
When I first started running MT in late December I said something like, "Well, it can't snow every day, right... ?"
WRONG!
It can. And it does.

Rib Mountain is just across the freeway from my house which is in, ironically enough, Rib Mountain.
Yes, my house has a heat loss problem into the attic and I'm not really sure where. There's a crap load of insulation in the ceilings. My guess is it comes through the walls of the upstairs, which is basically a big shed dormer. That dormer I KNOW leaks heat through the ceiling. Ice dam doesn't even begin to describe it.

Thing is though, the shop is insulated big time and has a vented roof and it still has thick ice dams. Not as many icicles though. Even my unheated shed, has some ice damming this year. Driving around it's very obvious I'm not the only one with ice problems. Seems 9 out of 10 houses have some amount and some are way worse than mine is. It's just a bad year for ice dams.

North central Wisconsin........ In 40+ years of living here I've seen as low as -41 in winter and as high as 109 in summer. Winters with hardly any snow, winters with never ending snow, 50 degrees in January and 35 and snow in August which is fortunately just that one time a few years ago when we had the summer that never came. Ah, variety! lol

Behind the house. The fence is 6 1/2 feet high for scale.

I have a friend who runs a shop in Mojave, CA that originally came from Northern England. He left the UK because of the snow and cold.
Right after the first snows hit here and he was laughing at me I got a phone call that went something like "F&%king hell mate!!! What the f&^^ is this white stuff coming down??!!?? I left the bloody UK because of this s&*t!!!"
At which it was my turn to laugh. :D

Man this weather sucks lately. Last evening it was rain/sleet/freezing rain big time, and even some thunder and lightning (WTF?), then it dropped (so far) about 8" of snow on top of that. I'm sure it'll just be a breeze to clear this morning. Nothing like and inch of wet slush covered by wet snow after all. Only hope I can get it done before the temp drops (it's 30 now) below zero this afternoon and it all freezes into a solid mass that needs a jack hammer to get through. High tomorrow of +4, seriously????????????? AAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!! Sorry, I'm better now.
