    Windshield wipers not working

This is getting depressing. I have a feeling I'm going to have to retrofit something from another vehicle.

    Windshield wipers not working

National Moparts says they are out of them.

    Windshield wipers not working

This was my mistake. The wipers for the 80-83 Cordoba are hidden, not exposed like Volares and Diplomats. It has a wiping cycle, and then has to park itself below the cowl.

    Windshield wipers not working

Well bugger. Just received the bushing from Vans. Doesn’t work. There’s nothing to hold it onto the wiper drive arm. It just falls off the bushing.

    Windshield wipers not working

Here's better pics of the cleaned up parts. The little torsion spring that fits over the shaft is intact, just not shown.

    Windshield wipers not working

It is the bushing on the arm of the wiper motor. Attaches to the main link arm. Doesn't look like the link bushings. And the FSM doesn't even mention or show this bushing anywhere.

    Windshield wipers not working

1980 Cordoba, just tried the wipers after giving her a wash and the arms just stopped. I'm guessing that there is a plastic bushing somewhere that just finally gave up the ghost. Where should I start looking?

318-4bbl conversion Throttle and Kickdown help

Time was you just went to the local junkyard to find the needed parts. Yes, the bracket on the manifold really is just kicked over more to the left to line up with the wider 4bbl carb. Can't recall if the 2bbl kickdown rod (from carb to bellcrank) worked or if a 4bbl one was needed.

    1980 Cordoba rear bumper filler

I can try to do that with the left side bumper filler because it is still intact. Same with the center portion. But the right side is basically a couple of handfuls of gravel.

    1980 Cordoba rear bumper filler

I'm sure everyone is aware how fragile these things are now. That plastic portion that covers the gap between the rear bumper and the body/tail lights. The right section on my '80 LS has basically disintegrated - if you look at them too hard they'll disintegrate. Does anyone make a...

    Carter bbd question

Oh and make sure the float is set correctly and the seat isn't leaking.

    Carter bbd question

In the rebuild kit, there are instructions for how to set the metering rods. One other thing you could try is to use full vacuum advance. That way your throttle bores will have to be closed down almost completely at idle, giving you full advantage of the idle transition slots.

    Warm start issues

Yes, make sure the choke isn't closing on a still-hot engine. Just to clarify, true vapour lock is when the mechanical fuel pump gets so hot that the fuel 'boils' inside the pump under vacuum and so won't create suction to pull any fuel in to pump. Pouring water on the pump will show if that...

    Rough idle...

That reminds me of the time when my Lean Burn was acting up. It caused a backfire and the timing chain skipped. Ugh.

torsion bar ride quality vs coil spring

All great points describing the benefits of the torsion bar system. As a further comparison, Uncle Tony did a quick segment on Ford musclecar spring setups. Most GM at the time put the spring between the lower A-arm and the frame. Ford put it from the upper A-arm to the shock/spring tower...

    Ignition system troubles and Questions

Some really good advice here, agree with everything. One thing, which 340 intake are you running - an old Edelbrock LD340 or a factory 340 unit?

    Amateur Hour

You called it. You normally do the right thing to prevent it and then the one time you don't, all the stars line up in the worst possible way. Thanks for reminding us all to take the preventive steps we know we should take but sometimes don't because "we'll be careful".

    1978 Petty Kit Car Purchase

She's a beauty. I still find it hard to believe that Chrysler did that sort of thing, in the late '70s yet!

Big block in a Plymouth Volare

I was thinking the exact same thing, I envy you guys who get so much done so fast. Looking great. When you've got it done, you should find one of the air cleaner 'pie tins' which say "318-4 BBL", to throw people off the scent. (wink)

    1969 Olds 442

You got a great deal, I think. See if you can find the old "Doctor Olds" advertisements from back in the day, very colourful. A buddy had a '68 442 just like that. Love those trumpet exhaust tips. That car was fast.

Question about TQ tuning. Off idle hesitation.

A big TQ on a 318 is fine. Unless you've screwed around with the rods & jets, the factory setting is fine for a basically stock engine. A temporary lean condition will stumble and seem really weak. A temporary rich one doesn't stumble, it just kind of feels not as sharp. Is your vacuum...
