    lol, I may have one soon, the case/tail housing still look good, most of the main trany good, but the OD inner stuff is toast.... Not sure what the owner wants to do with it after this is all figured out...

    Yes, that is what I am seeing looking at car-part.com also for transmissions... However I am pretty sure that is with the torque converter... I have a sneaky feeling that taken the converter out of the equation, then it will be much more interchangeable, as the flywheel and balance changed...

    I probably replace more than I need to when building a transmission, and ALL VB's come apart 100% for cleaning... It's a 1988 Dakota V6 RWD, not sure if that would be a 40RH or 42RH, being a basic V6 RWD I would guess a 40, but that is about all I am confused about..... The main concern was...

    Yeah, the direct drum, low/reverse drum, clutches and most of the OD unit are cooked... Plan B, looking for a rebuildable core or a good used one...

    Never mind, OD spring had collapsed and or welded itself to the OD hub... it's not worth rebuilding....

    A500 OD spring is completely collapsed inside OD hub, is it possible it is still under tension and stuck or just completely dead and not falling out, the bottom of the spring and OD hub are even.....

    I did say multiple times that I have ARP Rod Bolts......... and they were stretched and checked by a shop that built ProMod engines..... But I have read that about head Bolts.... I am probably going to advance my cam and shift at 6k and be done with it.... Or at most 6500 on special...

    If you are going 8.8 and having to narrow it, axles, all new parts and all the fab work you will be doing, why not just 9" it and be way stronger plus you have the convenience of the drop out center???? Most common rear diff and cost aren't too bad compared.... Me, I went 8.75 to keep it...

    Just asking if the bottom end will hold up to 6500.... stock main bolts, ARP rod bolts... When I built the engine years ago, I had a 340 engine that wound up having a cracked block, so I used the heads intake and 340 spec cam and put on the 360.... It was built to handle safely 150 shoot...

    LA360 stock short block except for resized rods with ARP bolts.. forged pistons.... valve train aside... Do I need to stick to 6,000 shifts or would it be safe to 6,500 or maybe even 7,000 (he asked while cringing)???
