Transmission cooler question

a lot of the new 8 speed chryslers run coolant lines to a heater on the trans as well as trans fluid cooler lines. the idea is to get the trans up to temp faster for better shifting and improved fuel eco

I can't help but wonder if synthetic fluid needs the heat or a heat range to work properly?
