    Hello-

My father has a couple of Mirada's for sale.

An 82 light yellow/beige colored car with brown interior. No rust but the tail panel has cracked and deteriorated to the point of no return so it was removed. We still have the original bumper and There is a replacement fiberglass rear panel available for $330. if you pick it up in Chicago. He had planned to do that but freight shipping is ridiculously expensive. There are a few cracks on the door panels and one or two on the dash. The rest of the interior is nice. Slant 6 car with 71,000 actual miles. It runs and drives like a brand new car. Seriously, every slant 6 owner will tell you it runs like new but this is the best running pre-fuel injection car I have ever driven, hands-down. With no rust and the sun cracks in the interior and the rear panel, I have to think it's a desert car. He's asking $2995 for that one.

Here's the link to the fiberglass rear:

    80-84 Mirada Parts.

Second is an 83 CMX Cabriolet hardtop 318 car with 97,000 Actual miles. New Mexico car all of it's life. Grey car with lighter grey leather interior. Still has the lean burn and the A/C still blows cold. Interior is pretty nice. Some creases in the leather but should clean up with a good detailer. Body has no rust & the rear panel is great but someone spray painted the hood, roof and trunk black. That spay paint is flaking off and I believe some good rubbing compound would take the rest off. Again, a really good detailer could do magic on this car, It runs and drives great as well and just drove the 1300 mile trip from New Mexico to Minnesota without skipping a beat. Asking $3650. for that one.

Again, both of these cars are owned by my father and are located in central Minnesota. I believe both are original paint cars.

Full disclosure, my father is a used car dealer & he specializes in vintage cars & trucks. No lie, he's invested in these for too much but he's had them too long and wants to sell. That's not a sales pitch and I'm not in the business. I'm just trying to help him out a little because he doesn't do the computer thing. He's gonna be 64 and I'm gonna be 41 within the next year. We ain't got time for all the B.S.!!!! All that being said, I know these cars a little and I would be willing to put down a hundy on a bet that either one would make the journey home anywhere within the continental US. I have no personal stake in these cars but I am just that confident.

Shipping is only a few bucks!!!

I get it. So many cars I would buy if I didn’t have to pay for shipping.

You could fly in to Minneapolis & drive the old girl home! Even in the winter, I’m sure she’d make the journey.

    Thanks for your interest

Agreed. Seriously, a one-way plane ticket & drive it home would be the cheaper option. Message me if you’re serious.

And again, I would cover $100 on your plane ticket if you’re dissappointed.

    Thanks Poncherello

    I'll give it some thought.

But to be honest the thought of driving 15 hours back home thru a northeast winter (particularly minnesota/wisconsin) in a rear wheel drive 40 year old car I do not know makes me clench up a bit....LOL

Not sure how hard it would be to find the correct rear panel --- I know we have tried to find the rubber replacement bumper panels for my sons 80 Volare and so far they are "unobtainium"......let alone dash and door parts which one could live with. But that rear panel is sort of a requirement. Who would think that a Volare or Mirada isnt as popular with the aftermarket world as is my Cuda....? LOL

if you have more detailed pictures of the yellow one -- I am sure everyone would be interested.

As an aside, and not to hijack the thread- but ever since I started looking for another ride for my youngest I marvel at how many nice cars are out there on craigslist etc in my price range and seemingly a condition that I would consider -- but so far away to really consider realistically.... Not sure how all the flippers on TV do it....I guess they have budgets for travel etc, or just buy on a hunch. I'd love to have a job like the guy on Wheeler Dealers....find it online then take a road trip to check it out and viola. Yeah, one can hop a plane etc....but what about work and of course budget? <SIGH>

And don't get me started on the folks who can buy cars through ebay, site unseen...... I guess I am not wired that way....LOL.

    Ok, whining done for now.

I hear ya on the drive part. I make the journey from New Mexico to Minnesota a few times a year, driving it at least once or twice both ways & usually with a loaded car trailer. It's about 20-24 hours depending. 10 years ago, I could run it straight through in one shot but that's just not happening anymore! I'll still do it in the winter sometimes because I grew up in Minnesota & I feel like I'm experienced enough to know when to cut my losses & find a room for the night.

As far as the rear panel goes, there is a fiberglass company that makes them for $475. (apparently the price has gone up since the original post). That's without shipping and last I checked, they charge freight shipping and it was like $300. to Minnesota but if you're headed East you can pick it up in Chicago for free! Lol.

    Again, here's the link:

    80-84 Mirada Parts.

I'll post some more pics in just a minute.

    Thanks for your interest!

Here's some close-ups of the 83. This is the absolute worst spots on the body. As you can see, a little surface rust but a seriously solid car. Underside is pretty clean and super-solid as well. I know pics always paint a better picture than seeing it in person but I don't want any disappointments & I'm trying to show the car as honest as I can. I'm happy to get any more specific pics if you're interested but the car is in storage for the winter so it may take a day or two.

The last pic is a chunk of the broken rear panel with what I believe to be the original dealership sticker.

I'm pretty sure the car will sell but again, cheapest option is to fly in & drive it home. I know it probably won't sell until spring because of that. Most people won't pay the ridiculous shipping but then again, someone might see the value and snap it up!

That was my best sales pitch! Do with it what you will.

Hit me up with offers. I know it’s Christmas time & nobody wants to spend the cash but I’m putting my own dough on the line that you won’t find a better J-body for the money. Interesting & unusual trades considered. If Pops doesn’t like it, maybe I will!!!

Just an update. The red rims & baby moons are now on the grey car & the black rims & dog dishes are on the yellow one but it’s easy to swap them if that’s what you’d prefer.

Better pics of the CMX were requested and I happened to be home for the holidays & grabbed a bunch while I was there. For clarification purposes, it does have a cabriolet top (vinyl/fabric). The top is in very good condition but again, someone spray painted the top surfaces of the car and it looks like they started to spray paint the vinyl top as well & realized it was a bad idea & stopped after the passenger's side. Of course, the painted areas on the vinyl top have attracted dirt and look terrible but I promise, the vinyl is still supple and flexible. I don't know if there's a chemical that can get that paint off but it has flaked off of a good bit of the hood and trunk already so I have to think a good buffer/detail guy could do wonders with this car. Absolutely zero rust on this one as it's fresh from New Mexico. No dash cracks but a couple in the door panels. Pics coming next.....
