The gears suck but it’s worth a couple hundred bucks, you might even be able to work him down a little to say $150.

Every time I see one for sale, nobody ever seems to buy it. But guaranteed someone will post here or on Facebook eventually looking for one. Again.

There was one in Illinois that a guy couldn't get rid of for like a year.

Sure, this isn't some great performance axle, but most of the F/M cars on the road today aren't that great either. For less than $200 this is a pretty good bolt in upgrade over an open 7 1/4. And you can find more parts for an 8 1/4 than a 7 1/4 these days.

I’ve had several 8.25 diffs and axel’s that I ended up giving away because nobody wanted them. Swapping out a diff is fairly straightforward and getting a good pattern is usually as simple as setting backlash. He will be lucky if it doesn’t go to the scrapper.

I think its one of those issues that the people who want them aren't within decent driving range of people who are selling them.

I think it really comes down to the limits people set for themselves. Some people set limits on money, some people set limits on time, some people set limits on experience, some people set limits on fun.
