soon it will be time to start preparing parts for assembly
That is way too nice to be hidden under the car.
You might want to remove the boss on the passenger side of the overdrive case now before you try and install it. I also cut away a web on the driver side for the original shifter linkage which you probably don't need to do with your mega shifter. Here's a picture that might give you a better idea of what I mean.
I have already fitted it to the trans tunnel, that's where it was until a few days ago.
The 518 build is underway
front section is built, waiting on parts to arrive
all buttoned up waiting for the valve body to be done
got a nice aluminum pan from summitracing to replace the tired steel one. I got the shift kit done, hopefully it is right.
damn I really need to clean up my mess
starting to mock up the shift linkage so I can make cooler lines
Got a set on cooler lines bent to a usable rough shape
New converter installed, along with the new dipstick and wiring. Ready to go in when the tunnel is ready.
So for anyone interested in the specs on the 518. I changed the front 3 clutch front drum for a 4 clutch, rebuilt with an Alto Red Eagle Power pack, and new spring set. The "rear" clutch received the rear clutch power pack. New HP/HD bands, 5.0 kickdown lever, extra duty apply strut, and nex sprag rollers and springs, upgraded accumulator, and a 4 gear rear planetary. The Overdrive section is loaded with an OD Power pack, new trust bearings,a beefed up apply spring reaction plate, and a 5600rpm govenor kit from A&A. I then added a superior shift kit. It is popped off with a Summit deep aluminum pan for a 727, a Torco 22-2500 converter and an Allstar locking dipstick.
Transmission cross member is done.
Trans is finally installed
Going to have to start over on the transmission lines, the ones i made don't fit the way they need to.
Got one of the correct tank senders from Vans on eBay. Looks like a perfect replacement. I'm adding a 3/8 inch pickup to it
Just finished up making the first half of the transmission lines.
