Bought one a few months ago. Umm for the most part it's pretty solid, glad to find a site dedicated to these hugely under-rated cars!

I have some idea of what I want this project to end up as, budget is semi-strict, but time's on my side :eusa_angel:

Interior's good, all the electricals work, was VERY well maintained for a long time, then pretty well neglected for a few years.

Rough or not....
I like 'em all.
Painting the trunk?

planning on it, right now I've been sorting the lean burn, gotten it better, but kind of given up on going further with it. picked up a used Edelbrock and thermoquad off cl for 100 bucks, have been looking into the conversion.

Hey, you're getting after it. That's what counts! I've started with a lot worse... of course, in my case I usually ended up even further down the spiral. :icon_biggrin:

it's a pretty solid foundation to start with. I've had a few ferds, and my fair share of GM products, but the more I've gotten to know about cars, the more I like what I've seen of Mopars.

I was looking at some rust convertors, still waiting for the temps to go up a bit yet, still in the 40s this week

Ditch the Lean Burn setup. The quickest & easiest way is to get any vacuum-advance distributor (points or electronic) and order up a Pertronix Ignitor I. It's so easy you won't believe it. However, if you want to do the Mopar-style electronic ignition used from '71-'81, I have an article somewhere that covers that swap including making sure everything's wired correctly as well as installing a four-barrel and intake. I'll have to dig a little for it, but it's in the pile somewhere.

that's pretty close to the point I was at, I half heartedly bid on a couple 6 boxes, wasn't really sure if that was what I really wanted/needed. eventually, I could see the motor coming out, getting punched 30 or 40ish over, maybe having the heads worked over while their out, plugging a little bigger cam in, and possibly slapping some ez fit shorty headers on. maybe after that I might look either a518 swap and/or 8.25 posi, and a 360 somewhere wayy down the road.

all show and no go, doesn't really do it for me, sleepers get my blood pumping! I kind of like the lazy beast approach. tall wide gears, a powerband so wide you could hide the Grand Canyon in it, that just keeps building and building and building. tractable, sublime, brutal, under a sturdy veneer of luxury. as long as I can live with it everyday and still sedately tear up LONG stretches of highway at whim, I'm happy!
