Made a short road trip

Went to my storage last night where I knew I had another radiator fan shroud...oh well it lines up nicely with the mounting holes but is not tall enough...was worth the try...

Eric,

How did the cop car stearing box work out? Is it a lot tighter and firmer than your original box?

As I get mine apart I want to do some of the suspension. Curious to know what the difference is.

Kevin on that little trip around the block I really didn't pay attention to it...in the next two weeks I should be able to answer that question better..

Have been busy on the M body

Haven't done a thing to the Aspen in over a week...oops I did start it and back it up in the driveway only to run out of gas...well I am ditching the chrome Holley fuel rail.....and today I purchashed a Rusell Preformance fuel line...it will give a better look than rubber fuel lines and clamps...I picked the black one so maybe it won't be so noticable..this way I can run the aluminum line back down to the filter also...next week the Gran Fury should pass safety inspection and then I will be back on the Aspen...

Got to do a little work tonight...I decided to switch up to a bigger radiator...if you have a 26" opening why run a 22" radiator...well I got my Nos 26" fan shroud tonight and placed it on the new 26" radiator that I got awhile back...it fits like a glove and looks brand new...my front tires were too tiny..they are 205/60/15 in the front and the back ones are huge 275/60/15...made the car look funny...took the wheels off the front and they go back for some 235/60/15...Now I go back junk yarding on Sunday for another 26" Mopar radiator and it's still in the air if I will run the one with the part number or the new one...oh well here's some pics

Wheels off and then wheels right back on...went to Discount tires today with my tiny tires...oh well as my luck goes check this out..Michelin who is the parent company of BF Goodrich has stopped making the T/A radials and will release the new version in 3 months...my tire guy found me two 245/60/15's for the front in Washington State...will be here next week when I am off and at home for a weeks worth of vacation..I put the wheels back on the car tonight in case I have to move it this weekend..I also pulled out my BBQ pit which is going over to my buddies house for now...I never use it anymore..he will take care of it for me and use it...

I usually don't pimp eggbay but here goes

I noticed the last time I took off the radiator cap that the rubber had expanded and was shot...the search began...on eggbay I found an OEM one for $9.95 so I bought two of them...they showed up yesterday and I was very surprised to find the same part number on the new as was on the old...:icon_razz:

For your info....

very fast USPS Priority mail shipping also....

My old one is on the left.....

I got the Aspen out yesterday...went for a short cruise and found time to add the candy cane trim on the front fenders and the headlight buckets...all would look better if the hood was one...I also took two crappy pictures from the side to try and show how the wheels and tires look..

Took the trim off the hood tonight

I wanted everyone to see why the hood isn't on yet....so I took the trim off the front of the hood and the cowl seal and the washer squiters off...very little to no paint in some areas...it seems like the paint was sprayed with the hood bolted to the car....

The tire/rim combo look really nice. Wonder how a set of Magnum's would look on my 5th...

One way to tell is to crop the tires and wheels of a picture of mine and paste them on yours with a good picture editing software.

No real news or updates other than I bought a NOS radiator yoke seal for 45 bucks 3868044 and a NOS Cowl Seal for 49 bucks 3868603....I tried cleaning my cowl seal but could not get the rust stains off of it..I even gave it a soaking in the evaporust bucket..I am calling Steele Rubber to see if they want to make them...mine is in excellent condition except for the rust stains...

Today I got my two eggbay 1977 Service Manuals...best $9.95 I ever spent...they are in very good condition and I am very happy to have them...the Body one goes into great mechanical detail and the Electric one goes into great wiring detail...

Going for paint tomorrow in the big industrial paint booth at work

Hit one louver with 600 wet and sanded it smooth...it will get primed tomorrow and sanded again if any trash shows it's ugly head...the other louver was already painted and had eight pieces of trash in it that I sanded them out with 400 and hit it with 600 wet also..got them all taped up and try painting them hanging this time...seem to have better luck.....:notworthy:

Someone else suggested using paint thinner to remove the rust stains on my cowl seal and it worked...great...without harming the rubber....mineral spirits to the rescue :toothy9:

My NOS cowl seal showed up today from Brad's NOS...59 bucks to the door and completly covered in the original wrapper...looks real nice...one crease in the center where is was folded for 33 years so its hanging in the garage..a couple of days in the heat will take care of that..

Been a long time coming

Half a thumbs up...It's been a real long time coming...I gave a real good look at both louvers in the sun and said "good enough for me"....used my 3-M dual lock and got the passenger side on and secure....I let the wifey use some for a in house project and I am short enough of it to finish the other side...I ordered some more...
