F body assembly line

It was a sad day the day the RWD assembly plant died. I knew then, these cars would be desirable in the future, and they are.

That first pic with Volare Wagon looks like it's a V8, and maybe the 8.25 rear with big brakes?

Lots of cool pics!

A good eye!

All wagons came 8¼’s (even with a /6). Most wagons came with 5-leaf rear springs (but not all did).

The Volare wagon in picture is a /6. I had to look twice – but if you look for the starter notch - that will tell you.

The only F-body’s that came with 11” rear brakes were either Taxi’s, Police or those with the super HD towing package. The drums pictured are 10” finned brake drum – used only on wagons. Regular 10” brake drums will interchange (either way) – but the finned drums are hard to find.

Interesting. I didn't know that. I have an extra finned set from the '78 Aspen parts wagon I stripped in VA, and I think I still have the finned set somewhere from my '76 Aspen wagon that got rear ended and demolished in 1990.
