Okay so we all know that the driver side/ Left side motor mount's different from the left. I tried Rock Auto a couple times and got the wrong 1 every time. I'm not into bushing or using washers to make it fit. So where do you guy & Gals go to get the correct motor mount?

Edit: I just had someone tell me that they'd sell me the left side motor mount for $100.00. I'm not desperate. I don't " need it ", and I'm not getting raped either.
Thanks.

The stupid thing is at one point the manufacturers knew there was a difference and had different part number for the 360 mount but they has a 318 mount in the box, now they've given up on the seperate part numbers it looks like.

At least the insert is readily available now.

I always used a heavy 3/4" but as a spacer. Worked perfectly. Look in your junk drawer, it's in there, and the price is right.

Just tried these non-oe mounts and tried shimming them as described in the text. Is this correct where I landed ?

The LA small block engines use the same engine mount mounting on the right side, whether the spool type, or the earlier separate bracket and insulator type. The 273 and 318 use the same engine mount mounting on the left and the 340 and 360 use a different spacing on one bolt for the engine mount mounting on the left, whether the spool type, or the earlier separate bracket and insulator type. The 273 never used the spool type in a factory configuration, but it can mount like the 318.

Original Chrysler spool type mounts are shown in the following image:

An original Chrysler 318 left mount is shown in the following images with an NOS Chrysler left 340/360 mount side by side for comparison:

The 340/360 left mount is shown in the following image on a 340 engine:

The 318 left mount is shown in the following image on a 340 engine. Note the gap at the rear mounting face to the block boss:

The following image shows the gap at ~5/16" - 3/8". The gap can vary at the bracket ear position due to manufacturing or handling. Aftermarket mounts might have more variance.

The gap can be filled with a spacer:

The following image shows the 318/340/360 right mount on a 340 engine:

No spacer or adjustment is needed on this side.

Went back out this morning and remeasured every thing. The original 318, the new 360 as well as the subframe distances are all the same as I installed them. Thankyou for all the helpful feedback and advice. I think we now have it. Here we go with installation !!!

I guess so. Irratating.
It is irritating. I ended up using high grade washers and they've been fine but I understand wanting to "do it right".

Same b.s. goes for heater cores. A bunch of sites list a certain core for FMJ but the core they send physically will not fit in the HVAC box! That doesn't stop them from listing it for our cars.

It's annoying too that I don't know about now but even going back over 20 years they listed the different part for 360 but gave you a 318 one in the box. I kept my original one to change out the bushing in it, at least now you can get those.

So I always wondered, and perhaps I simply missed the obvious, but what exactly was the reason for Mopar using different mounts?

I mean externally isn't the block casting (not the machining) basically the same thing everywher else?

I use AC compressor spacers. I have tons of them. Chrysler had to do everything extra weird. That's just their culture. Like the 426 Hemi engine mounts and the intake manifold heater tube crap.

Don’t forget K frames being deferent for every engine family since 1960.

Are there reproduction 340/360 brackets?

Not weird, unique and engineered to be the best
