Your talking the front plate or mid plate?
I'm setting my Fbody up for the front plate, I'm planning on milling the water pump housing the same thickness as the plate so nothing changes for belt anointment. My alt. will be mounted to it low on th RT side..

First, I’ve never worked on an engine plate, except for sprint cars – so for automobile usage – no experience here.

I would think a mid-plate (small or big block) would be a huge bear to work with.

Thinking about using a 1-piece or 2-piece plate system?

Couldn't find that post on moparts. Their search engine never gets me to the "on point" topic. Thought that the plate would add some strengthening to the front of the chassis.

I was referring to the single or dual plate versions:

If you need motor plate(s) – then you don’t need P/S or any other luxury systems weighing you down.

I love the idea on cutting/machining down the water pump housing!
When doing so, don’t forget to also include the thickness of the second water pump gasket (sense gaskets will be doubled)!

I run a front and mid plates on the street. No interference with headers or anything. The good thing I have the coil and everything mounted to the front plate. Really cleans up the engine bay.
