About seven years is all tires are good for then the manufacturer says replacing is the thing to do no matter how many miles or tread depth.

No since tossing salt in a wound on old tires, I can guess you might of thought you had a bad u joint for a moment until it blew...been there.

I think you got very lucky, from your pic of the tire the outer QP usually get dramatically crumpled like crushing an AL can to 1/2 its size.

No crash, no injury, car dont look too bad.... you did ok.

Wow! You are lucky - it could have been so much worse. A good lesson for everyone. Too bad about the quarter panel, but again, that could have been much worse too.

When driving (any car) and you feel a somewhat different, but strong, vibration suddenly, you need to slow down right now (don’t even think twice), for a tire is almost ready to utter, suddenly, “I quit” !

I just now noticed you have trim that covers the rear marker lamps. The marker lamps are a royal pain to change out with that trim in place.

Sorry to hear about this issue – but at least no one got hurt (with exception being the pocket book).
