So when we got our 80 Volare, the seller threw in an old k member complete with spindles, rotors, one caliper, caliper brackets, steering box, torsion bars etc....a-arms are there too but pretty rusty.

He said it was a v8 k member and it was sitting outside for a while. Well, it sat outside for the last year here too...LOL...and its time to do something with it I think.

Now, one engine mount tab had one ear cut off and there is a hole near the rear mouting pad, driver side....so I assume the k member itself probably aint worth much, right?

I figure the caliper brackets and spindles are probably worth keeping....maybe the torsion bars/adjuster? Caliper for core purposes maybe.....steering box for core.....

The rest is probably scrap steel.....right?

I just let a good one go for $150 locally. It was a complete pull out with rotors, calipers and steering box still on it. It had been sitting around for several years. Yours looks kinda rough.

The spindles are worth $100 alone. The frame usually rusts at the rubber body mounts and it may not be worth keeping.

Thanks for the feedback. I think the plan will be to have the son disassemble it all (learning experience) and keep the individual parts and scrap the k member itself. I think that between the cut off tab and the holes near the mounts its too far gone to be worth anything.

This K member is used quite often with the 50s Ford F-100 crowd. See if there is a club in your area.

You have to cut one engine mount 2"+ off the top when swapping from a /6 to v8 according to instructions on swap motor mounts. Not sure if that helps to ID which one it is or if its even relevant.
