We have already been hit with lake effect and arctic blast, I can't wait to see what happens when winter officially starts.
God, I hope you're wrong about a long winter Aspen. I keep telling myself this is the time to work on the car and motorcycles, so I can spend more time driving and riding when it's warm.Man does that look familiar!
That is the sucky part. Looks like that outside and winter doesn't even start until this Wednesday. Ever get that feeling of dread that it's going to be a loooooooooooong winter? By long I mean it'll continue well into official spring. Grumble, whine, sigh, complain, frown.
Hope I'm wrong on that one though.
Funny you should mention top bedroom Justwondering. That's what the dormer is, a 12X20 bedroom with a skyscraper like 6 ft ceiling height and closets under the front roof of the house. Actually it's THE bedroom as there's only just the one. I think the people that built and lived in this house (original part built in 1946) where short. The old part of the first floor has 7' ceilings, the addition (late '60) on the first floor does have 8ft though. I think the cold transmits through the block into the floor, even though I have 1" rigid insulation on the "foundation" and going about a foot into the ground, covered by a foundation coating. My foundation is only 12-18" deep and made of big rocks and part of it sits right on solid granite so it's not going anywhere. In this area around Rib Mountain, to have a basement requires blasting ($$$$) so most are slab on grade until you get further from the mountain.

I didn’t want to sound too desperate for details, but yea.
