I just acquired a few parts for a challenger most importantly a 340, for my engine swap. but i was wondering if the rearend (8 3/4 3.55 suregrip) will fit under my 78 Aspen. I just don't think the stock rear will handle a 340.

I may be wrong, but I think the E-Body rearend is too wide.
The B-Body rearend is the ideal choice of most for this swap.

E Body is too wide. I wouldn't do it. That article is a good one.

68-70 B Body is ideal

And mine came out of a 66 Coronet.
I will be using that same 3.55 gear ratio
behind my 340 with a 4 speed.

I think a 8.25 will live fine behind a 340 street car (no slicks). They used them in trucks and vans pulling all kinds of stuff over the years.

I plan on putting the 8.25 vs the 8.75 discussion to the test this spring. I plan like Jasperjacko to have some fun at the track this coming year with my 8.25 3.21 dif with 300 plus hp, if and when it breaks I will make a change. I'm curious how much it will take. I obviously understand the 8.75 is stronger but I am curious how strong the 8.25 is.

Eric I think it's a half an inch stronger, that's all.

Was an 8.75 4.10 suregrip an option for the f body? Curious because I have one complete with iso-clamps.

No 8:75 avail in F's If you have a 8:75 with iso it is likely from a 72 RR & will be wider than the 66-70 B body which fits the F.

I know where to get a Dana out if a 70 satellite. So you're telling me it will fit?

I put a Dana 60 out of a 68 GTX in a 78 Volare premeire.
and a 340/727 out of a Dart Sport.
This car was beautiful. Black with maroon int.
Bucket seats and counsel. that was my first experience
with a F-Body. Thats way before these sites were around
I found out by measuring and just welded the F-Body
ISO spring pads in place of the B-Body ones.
It worked well. A bit over kill for a stock 340,
but it was all I had at the time. and the 7 1/4 was toast.
