Received the motor mounts from, Schumacher for small block to big block engine swaps and figured I’d share for anyone interested in the details.
The mounts look real quality and I’ll post some pictures when I have them in hand again.

Great to see the slant package… slants autos were unique right? New trans or bell housing needed?

Correct. Slant six, small block and big block each have different bell housing patterns. Slant 6 is WAY different from SB and BB.

That is the conversion kit I used. I did not cut down the original mount. I drilled a slightly larger hole so if I ever wanted to go back to SB I could just drop one in.

New trans because bell housings are integral to the transmission, provided you are talking about factory originals.

Does anyone recommend stiffing the frame rails and rear suspension when converting from 6/ SB to BB?

Absolutely should add subframe connectors and rear sway bar.
Whenever I get around to dropping and replacing my fuel tank, I also want and recommend adding plate/re-enforcing the upper “mount” for the rear shocks too.

Subframe connectors are HIGHLY recommended. When I originally went from 225 to 440 back in '89, didn't have connectors. On hard accel, a 1/2 gap would open between the door glass and seal. Around 1991 I welded in subframe connectors and the difference was amazing. They also helped the handling, and reduced squeaks and rattles about 500%.

I removed the flimsy shock crossmember and replaced it with a piece of mild steel tubing. I would absolutely recommend this modification. It eliminated a "boing" sound that used to come from the back of my car.

Just adding some observations as I am currently putting my 2nd 400 in my 77 Volare RR. If you want to use a Melling high volume oil pump. I could not find a way to make it work. With it installed I could see no way to get the nut on for the motor mount through bolt. If you put the nut on then install the oil pump I couldn't find a way to reach the oil pump middle mounting bolt. I just went with a Melling standard which still outputs more then the stock oil pump.

I also had clearance issues with the oil dipstick tube. I am using a chrome aftermarket but mine was hitting the back edge of the support plate for the motor mount. I cut a notch and it was fine.

Long overdue;
As of an hour ago, Schumacher finally has both 273/318 and 340/360 style spool mounts available.
