That old girl cleaned up real nice.

Yes Sir, she's coming along.

The proud new owner and her baby....

I'm guessing you're talking about the car and not my wife... :icon_question:

Thanks man...it's coming along.

:icon_blackeye: I would never speak of anothers man's wife ... lol

ROFL!!!!....
I kinda figured but after I read it I was a little.....huh? :toothy6:

Yes...the ol' gal (car) is coming along nicely.
My plug wires are in so I'll pick those up today then I can do the tune up.
Hopefully this will stop it from playing YYZ by Rush everytime you start it cold.

The paint came back pretty well but that's hand buffing.
My buddy has a real buffer and I'll give it another go with that to see if I can get her gleaming.

Fascinating what you find out when you start tearing through someone else's handiwork.

Did the plugs and wires, cap and rotor yesterday.
Fired it up...sounded not bad...but not what I expected.
Figured...okay let's play with the timing.
Loosened the distributor and went fishing for the sweet spot.
Found middle ground and it didn't sound too bad.
Dropped it into drive and it fell on it's face.....
Advanced it as far as I could without it starting to stutter.
Drive.....puke...
Retarded the crap out of it...it kept running but badly.
Took it for a run...got two houses down the street and she's knocking like there's no tomorrow
And backfiring...
Okay...so now I'm getting pissed.
No matter what I did I couldn't get it.
Checked for vacuum leaks, went over everything...still puking.
Figured I needed a break and a beer.
Took my Fifth to the booze store and the whole time I'm thinking.what the hell is wrong?

Got back, cracked a beer and I'm staring at the car.....
The old guy had the wrong plugs in there and I figured that was part of the original problem.
Just for laughs I grab my Haynes to check the firing order............
You do know what's next right?
One can only imagine just how long this guy was driving this poor car like that.
Corrected the order and she's purring like a kitten.
Drop it on drive....beautiful.
Now....it runs like the day it was made.
I still can't believe that it was wired wrong and have no idea for how long.
The old guy told me when I bought it.
Oh...it runs a bit rough when you first start it but it's not bad when it's warned up....
Runs rough????
Gee...wonder why.....
Anyway....she is indeed running like a dream now.
Yeesh!!!

Going to do the oil on her now.
Can't wait to see how she fires up this morning.
Should be a completely different scenario.

No major updates but I did hit some snags.
The NOS cap and rotor that was thirteen years old went south in like three days.
Put a bluestreak on it.
Carb needed a rebuild and the choke pulloff died.
Got that done and NOW it's running like a mil.
Needless to say...the missus is very happy.
Happy wife...happy life....
A shot of our two rides at a local fun fair/show and shine..

Yet Another Addition....

Well I've pulled the trigger again.....
I've seen this car the Tim Horton's parking lot for a few years now. This nice old gent owns it.
I've struck up many conversations over the years about his car and mine.
I always told him.....if you're ever gonna sell that car.....

Well....I'm up at my trailer last weekend having a beer watching the lake and my phone rings......it's him.
I met up with him and made a deal.
If all goes well I should have it in a couple of weeks......
After he buys a "smaller" car for his wife...who now does the driving due to his age.....
He ordered the car new and ordered it with a 318.
They delivered a slant car and he turned it down and waited two weeks for "his" 318 car.

Two M's and two F's....yikes!

But really.....how could I say no.

The problem his wife has with the size of the car becomes painfully apparent when you observe the passenger side which unfortunately met a cement pillar of sorts.

The way you are going I guess we will see you adding to this thread again in a few months. Kind of like a crack mother just keeps adding to the family. Good job you can't loose. You will be able to keep it running cheap. If it needs something like brakes, battery etc , take the parts off of the fleet cars and put the new parts on the keepers. Double win. No guilt if and when it's time to scrap it or sell it about all the money spent on it. I don't know if I would fix the side and paint it if you are going to scrap it though even in a few years.

Even though the plan is to use it as my beater.
I do have a self admitted problem with saving all the Mopar's I buy.
I'm pretty sure you'll see the passenger side cleaned up relatively quickly
I do need a winter beater and this is indeed it.
But like I said......who knows....might fall in love all over again. :BangHead:
