Hello Forum members,

I am interested in upgrading an "NP" 4 speed (mopar A833?) tranny to a Tremec TKX (?) 5 speed or Magnum 6 speed without breaking the ie bank();which one would fit an F Body without a lot of "fab" work behind a magnum v8 in a 1979 Plymouth Volare and be most cost effective per se??

Thanks in advance for any/all replies!

Be prepared to cut up the transmission tunnel and fab a crossmember for the swap, those transmission's are tall and wide.

I just recently asked about an engine trans swap for my duster. the easiest direct drop in suggested for my preferences was the 727 trans.
(I wanted to keep it a 3 speed auto with an auto over though. )

tkx has a smaller case but still requires mods
Yeah, RT_Robb is asking about two different transmissions. The whole point of the TKX is the smaller size to avoid fitment issues. Can you elaborate about required mods? I'm thinking about that swap.

Not sure exactly what you are wanting to do but, if it's to have overdrive, have you considered a Gear Vendors O/D? Less money (still not cheap though) and way fewer mods. Only an idea:)

That's a T56 pic in an A Body but the amount of floor cutting is the same.
