1977 gas tank swap

I'm curious if I can swap a 78 gas tank into the 77 if I have the fuel sending unit and filler neck from the 78. I know they're different but wanting to come up with something that works

if the car had a hump tank then no it won`t work, trunk pan is different

Was hoping it would still bolt up underneath if I had everything

strap locations are different etc, just won`t work, you can change trunk floor pans if handy with welder, lots of work

Rock auto shows a split in 79 with the newer tank being the sane up to 89. It looks like the tanks are the same except for the added hole so it should fit

Good news, thank you for that detail.

That is the only difference. "Up to" has a vent hose nipple (rollover valve is behind the rocker in the cowl area), "after" takes a grommet and valve. Direct bolt in for your 5th Ave.

Don't forget a new filler tube grommet If possible, get one from the dealer. Some of the aftermarket ones are cheaper but quality and fit can be hit or leak, I mean miss, lol.

4002010 is thefiller neck grommet part number. I may have a extra around here if you need one.
