Solid motor mounts? Seems to me you might be able to make 'em on the cheap. Or run urethane and build a torque strap for it.

So Easy a Caveman Could Do It

Make them yourself (with the help of a good welder). Just like Brother Rameth said.

Just knock out the rubber insert and sleeve, weld some scrap steel caps on each end, drill holes in the center of the new cap and Viola'

Done it three times, they work like a dream.

Just make sure you shim up any spaces between the width of the modified mounts and engine mount cradles, or you'll be replacing tranny mounts or tailshafts. AND DON'T ASK ME HOW I KNOW!!!:icon_wink:

Not sure how there torque strap mounts up to the bigger F/J/M k-frames. I saw what you're posting about, Eric. One of the pages says for A,B,F,M,J-bodies while if you click on the torque straps themselves they only list 'em for the A, B, & E. Even the installation guide shows only the A, B, & E's, with just a little disclaimer which says "all other years, holes must be drilled." Does that mean that you have to drill holes for the earlier A's and B's? Or does that mean for the F/M/J's, too? I don't know. I think before I bought one I'd have to make a phone call to see if it's designed to be a direct bolt in. Failing that I guess you could always just use the torque strap itself and fab up a new bracket, if the situation called for it.

You have to drill holes...the f-body k-frame is a strange animal...I just looked at mine since it's out of the car and it would take some thinking about it but it could be done...main thing is there it not a flat place to bolt it near the motor mount...you may have to weld a flat piece of steel to mount it to..

Let Me Say This About That

While we're in this neighborhood......................:confused3:

Is there anyone who is making metal K-frame isolators?

Mopar Performance used to offer a set years ago, but has discontinued them.

I keep hearing rumors, but haven't seen anything yet.:icon_study:

Meanwhile, back to solid spool mounts..... A few years back I found a length of brass round stock in a scrap pile at a yard that happened to be the right diameter to fit inside the brackets after torching out the rubber. Simply cut to length with a hacksaw, and drill the correct size hole in the center. Lotta elbow grease with the hacksaw, but the mount conversion was truly a low-tech, low budget deal that worked. Plus, I think the brass was probably a little kinder to the thru-bolt than steel woulda been. Just wish I knew what size brass stock to buy, as I'd like to do another set or two....
