I don't want to start this debate, but the greenhouse gas theory on global warming is, to put a concise term to it, full of hot air. Always has been. Its just a way for some people to make themselves look good and make money.

(and no, I didn't really intend to make a pun, it just come out that way(.

When you take into consideration that the world population sits around 7.2 billion people right now and theoretically all of those people have a dump everyday...that alone is enough to make you ponder how much installing solar panels is going to help the planet out....besides I don't think the planet really gives a rats ass what we do.....what people are trying in vain to preserve is a way of life that's 150 years old tops. The inevitable is....inevitable. And the inevitable is that the earth will continue on in it's constant state of flux just as it always has.

This of course is my opinion only......

Everything has a limit, EVERYTHING! Once you exceed those limits.... London almost wiped itself out, LA almost wiped itself out. The planet has a balance that we are doing our best to upset. I believe the earth is going to do what the earth is going to do, but resources are finite. Once there gone, there gone. I remember saying "What a-hole is going to pay for water in a bottle, when they can turn on a tap?". The swill the water dept. calls water is barely drinkable. I gave my parents a filtration system for Christmas a couple of years ago. What an eye opener that was. The filters are supposed to be changed about every 3 months. The most they get out of a filter is a month! They are so brown, you can see contaminates right in the filter media. The filter & a water sample was sent out to a private lab, on my Dad's dime. The results were startling to say the least! Some of the heavy metals were up to 400% above maximum allowable. The city's recommendation was (no bullsh*t) to take the filter out! Have it in writing! Calling the newspapers, TV stations, EPA, etc.. did no good whatsoever. I've seen the results of other "non-existent" problems, I'll choose to err on the side of the scientist that say it does exist. I'm not saying I'll be trading the Imp in on a horse anytime soon. That's what Al Gore wanted us to do. They're trying to do away with the EPA. The way that they've sold out to industry, I'm not so sure it would be such a bad thing. But imagine if they did, & wiped all the clean air, water, & environment laws that've been passed in the last 100 years. That's what they want to do. We see how they screw up the enviorment WITH all these laws on the books, imagine if they were left to the honor system! I'm no tree hugger by any stretch of the imagination, just a little food for thought.

The eruption of Mt. St. Helens, which was the equivalent of a "Fun Size" candy bar in geological terms, emitted more pollution (by the environmentalist "tailpipe" standards) and particulate matter into the atmosphere than mankind has mustered as a collective since our mastery of flame. There have been other eruptions similar in size during my lifetime. There's not enough platinum on Earth to build a catalytic converter for Krakatoa.

George Carlin, during a comedy routine that can be found on YouTube if you look, once said something to the effect of: The Earth has been here for hundreds of millions of years. We've only been here for a million or two. We've only been industrialized for the last 150. Don't you think it's awfully conceited of us as a species to think we could've ruined it? The Earth is cyclical, folks. It goes through changes. It was here before us, it's fine now, and it'll still be here and just fine long after we're gone.

What they tell us and what they teach our children about the environment is fear for profit. Nothing more, nothing less. They tell us "facts" that fly in the face of our schooling and even common sense. We just eat it up anyhow because we, as a species, have a guilt complex. There are so many examples of how backwardly we're "saving the planet" by doing more harm than good, it's actually laughable.

I have the luxury of letting my Imp snooze long & hard. I really don't want to take her anywhere except my Dads house. I've finally managed to run the fuel tank low enough, that I should only have about a gallon when I get over there. I have the proper electric fuel pump (Delphi pump for converting Mustang EFI to carb). I also have the leaf spring rebuild kit in urethane, including the ISO-Clamp setup. I'll leave that on until I rebuild my 8 3/4 in spring.

12F heat wave going on here. Snowing off & on like no snow click white out! Not 2 minutes ago it was squalling like nobody's bidnit, now, sunny sky. Shadows & everything! Been doing that all day long! Tonight 0-2F with a -15 wind chill factor. Just out of idle curiosity, does anyone watch "Real Time with Bill Maher"? Opinions?

A t-shirt and lawn chair inspiring 30°F here today.
Compared to what we've been getting lately it feels like summer.
But of course....there's snow coming.

That's definitely fresh.....
14°F here right now and snowing big time.
Even though I didn't want to freeze my ass of doing my oil change today
I'm glad I did cause we're getting buried in snow again and there's another arctic cold wave coming.

0°F on the nose with a windchill of -16°
At least the sun is out and it's supposed to gradually warm up throughout the week.

Some went potty in the Captain's tea this morning...

I hear ya, though, really. By this time every year, we've all got cabin fever and it's harder to take with every nasty day. Unfortunately, I know that here it's not over for a while yet. I remember this storm all too well. It was already lightly snowing when I left for work that morning, but by noon we had about 8" on the ground. I don't remember the total snow fall here (I'm 200 miles north of Milwaukee), but it was over a foot. It was a really bad day for 400+HP, an unsprung full-metallic clutch disc, and Z-rated 245/60R-15s. :eusa_doh:

Yeah....Mother Nature crapped in my corn flakes.
It's that last leg of winter madness setting in....
Most winters you at least get a break here and there but no dice this year
It's been non stop....

Yep, normally we get a nice thaw the 3rd week of February with weather in the high 40s/low 50s. This year we got it and though it was still 20+ degrees higher than the week previous and post, that simply meant those weeks we were hovering near zero. It was the first time since November we had back-to-back days above 15 or so.

We had the same blast of "heat" in February. Now it's back to -2. I'm hoping/thinking by the end of March it will be warm enough to at least do the prerequisite spring garage clean-up.
