Cordoba down under and she is just about finished!

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to put everything together what I have done to my car since I have owned it. She started out as a cloth interior, 318, A999 and 7.25" rear end from the sun faded Semi Valley of California.

Exterior has gone from glacier faded blue to a more modern blue.
Rear Fender extensions - That don't fit well but do now.
100 Spoke Chrome wheels sitting on 215 x 60 x 17 tires.
New Wheel arch trim.

Interior has gone from fasded cloth to 5th Ave Leather.
Leather wrapped 5th ave steering wheel.
New Top door moldings.
New dual action seat belts.
New window rubbers.
New window pushers.
Rev counter on dash.
o2 Gauge under dash.

Firm Feel tubular Top A arms.
Solid Pucks
KYB Gas shocks all round.
Steering gear with heavy feel.
Addco front and rear performance anti sway bars.
Urethane leaf spring pads.

8.25" rear end on 3.21:1 ratio

360 Magnum

I am really impressed how it goes now, I have taken it from a dray old 80s car with economy smogged out running gear to an eye popping street machine! With the a super luxury interior, I find my self heading out to the garage just for a sit in it So comfy! I really like the 360 magnum setup, it has given it the power it needs to bring it into the modern era! Is it the fastest thing around, no way! But it puts a smile on my face and I have not even taking it to 5000rpm yet! Its outside appearance is kind of stock, the chrome wheels are inline with the wire hub caps it came with, the bigger wheel lets me run a lower profile tire.

Whats it drive like, not bad at all, holds a straight line, have not really put it through the corners fast yet! The heavy feel of the steering gear makes it far nicer to drive I feel, I have a friend who loves the feather light steering, I find it to light at 60mph.

I personally think the J Cordoba and the Mirada are one of the nicest 2 doors Chrysler did and it was their last for a while! I just think they were not as popular because they were the wrong car at the wrong time with the fuel shocks of the late 70s and early 80s!

What I have done is nothing you guys in the USA can't do but what does make it amazing how I have managed to hot rod this car from half way around the world, where there are no parts, I have had to rely on help and advice from guys on here. Thats what makes it amazing, its not like Mr V could pop over and help with the upholstery or Bud could whip over and help with the power steering pump or AJ forms can nip on over to take a look at my carb

First day I got the car

Factory Wheels and trims on, if you look hard you will see the right hand side was riddled with dents. Paint would not shine.

Cloth interior, cracked steering wheel, every time you sat on seat it ripped.

L@@K OUT!! Your driving on the wrong side of the road!! Great Job Bruce! That has really come a long way! The interior really came out nice to. How do you like that cam with the EQ heads? Pulls good? I think ive read every post on your build at least twice. Lots of good info! Its definitely a project you can be very proud of. In the seat, in the garage, reminiscing on trip you and the Cordoba took together. Its a good feeling.

Thanks Jim, I have posted all my problems and successes along the way so people can see what I did and the inventive things I come up with along the way, decided I didn't want a 1/4 mile king rather a street car so the idea of big heads, big cam, high stall all went out the window. Ended up with an engine chrysler should of built. LSD to go in next to handle the stump pulling power it has now!!

Exhaust done, don't give me a hard time, its a street car and I know its probably a little on the smaller side than it should be, but thats only going to effect the top end, 2.25" 2.25" into a 2.5" single out the back.

Actually, it is a car (as you has equipped) like what Chrysler should have built – as well as engine. The Magnum hadn’t been invented quite yet, but otherwise, yes.

Yeah but a 360LA could go ok too, Jumping into my doba you would not think you are driving a 70s era car!

2.25" 2.25" into a 2.5" single out the back.

Exhaust cools (shrinks) as it travels down to tailpipe – so sometimes it helps to have a shrinking tailpipe for noise resonation.

2-1/4” pipe flows 408 CFM air or 185 HP (for 4 cylinders)
2-1/2” pipe flows 509 CFM air or 232 HP (for 8 cylinders
So, depending on where the 2-1/4” pipes meet up and point where the exhaust cools down – it might be spot on.

That is a very clean exhaust shop!

Edit: https://www.forfmjbodiesonly.com/classicmopar/threads/the-canadian-y-pipe.5866/ if your exhaust shop made a Y-pipe like this one (which I still have for sale, if anyone is interested in it), then the air flow numbers will be more rated towards 232 HP, or thereabouts.

If the “Y” is more downstream, which I suspect it might be, then those numbers will be a lot higher.

This will make a bigger difference at high RPMs – so I think you will be fine, just as long as you like the noise output.
