Anyone have a diagram outlining the factory brake line routing? I'm plumbing the discs on the Dana and I'm trying to figure out where the lines are supposed to go. I modified them 15 years ago when I swapped the 8.75" in to get the brake tee on the axle to reach. Can't figure out how to put it back now. lol. Thanks.

Are you talking the line from the master to the rear hose, or the lines actually on the rear axle?

Sorry guys, should have been clearer in my first post. I'm looking for a picture of how the steel line runs along the frame rail in the back and terminates to that bracket. This is where the rear axle T goes connects to the steel line.

When I swapped the 8.75" many moons ago the vent tube on the housing was farther in toward the carrier than it was on the 7.25". Because of this the brake T wouldn't reach, so I got creative bending the factory steel line around to reach. The new brake T that I have has a pretty long line attached to it and will reach the factory location where the bracket is supposed to go. Just unsure of how to correctly reroute the steel line.

I did a lot of stupid crap on this car when I was a kid. Slowly I'm trying to make it right.

I cant speak for sure on your type car then, oem on a F runs down the side right under the rocker lip.

You can see in my pic that it comes up from the rocker area and snakes around the rear unibody then to the hard mount bracket that the rubber line connects to.

Id bet if you start to look you will see the small holes where the line clamps held your org. line.

I don’t have access to any vehicles to get good pictures – so I took pictures of my parts and FSM for you, so hopefully this helps.

Is this kind of what you are looking for? I know, not the greatest photo's but the best I can get sliding under the car without putting it on stands. Keep in mind, this is a '79 Aspen, not an '87 5th so it may or may not be the same.

Don't feel too bad about the dumb things you did to the car in the past. Right there with you on what i did to mine in the early '90's by going semi pro-street with it. Spent 2002-2012 undoing all of it while kicking myself every step of the way.

That was it, thanks guys! I had relocated that bracket and wasn't sure of the proper orientation. Rear brakes are plumbed. Need to swap the proportion valve out now. Hope the line break free.

You relocated your rear sway bar brackets?
Do you remember why?

This picture that F Body Deconstructor Jim provided shows the pre-punched holes for the rear sway bar. Just line up the bracket and use the self-taping screws that come with it and you’re in business.

These holes are on most (if not all) of the FMJ’s I’ve looked at.

That is the factory location for the sway bar bracket. I took that photo on a real a screw ball angle. I did use the factory holes, but I drilled them out and used bolts that go all the way through the frame rail.
