Hello to all. For my 1st post, I'd like to thank the owner/builder of this site. Who knew back then that such an interest in our love for anything built with transverse torsion bar's would someday make a comeback?! Not me. All my friends drove appropriate longitude bar a&b bodies. I was out casted, belittled, putdown, shamed. Shamed for buying a hot looking brand new,and by the way guys; motor trend's car of the year,Mopar? Well let's just see about that. Hmmm, shave head's, headers, cam, sidepipes, swap out od883 for close ratio 71challenger 4sp. Yea I think I'm cool, chrome 81/4 cover, pinion snubber, flip gas filler, i'm front to back ready. 1st job; my Buddy's 69 396 4sp Chevelle. Done. Next up,another buds 65 mustang, Done. The only car in my group that always got me top end was a 68 fastback cuda 340 auto. Well back to the post; why didn't mother mope, #1 place an r/t emblem on the glove box door, #2 install a flip gas filler, #3 use the police speedo indicated to 140mph.and last but not least a rear police swaybay? I mean come on, just 2yrs earlier a trackpac checked off on the order form meant these things. So I had to do it myself no big deal but it has always bugged me. I was just glad they keep the amber (your in reverse dummy)lite under the dash. Well thanks everyone for taking me in, I'm no Galvin Glover, but having worked at the dealer when these came out does give me some creed on the breed sorta speak. So I know a thing or two, because I've seen a thing or two, when it comes to f body mopars. Paint daulbs, bracket locations, recall parts. Maybe I can be of help, hit me up. 1more thing. Why didn't we ever see any f's on the show; graveyard cars? Thanks again,Mopar to ya

Because anything not A/B/E from about 63-73 "ain't a real Mopar!"... at least until those dry up or get priced to the moon.

Oh and welcome.

I think Chrysler had more focus on surviving at the time. Emissions, energy crunch, etc. At least the first couple years of the F body it was basically a appearance pkg much like the Mustang II etc.

HemiIron56, I can relate.
In my years, I’ve owned a ’67 Satellite, ’68 Charger, ’69 Road Runner and still own a ’70 Chrysler 300/H (not in order of ownership).
One day, I was driving my rusty ’68 Charger (318 2-bbl car), 20 years ago and someone waved me down and offered stupid money for it (or so I thought at the time), so I sold it thinking I could use the money to purchase another B-body in that age range. I should have looked at what rusty Chargers were going for before agreeing on the price, for what I thought was stupid money – was actually way way underpriced (so the “stupid” arrow got pointed towards myself). Now, you can get darn near everything to rebuild that Charger with, but 20 years ago was a different story.

I can no longer afford a B-body now, so F-body became really attractive . . .

Welcome to the black sheep!

Cheaper chassis leaves more money for the motor and these cars go just as fast. The looks I get from some of the old iron guys as you walk away from them is priceless.

Thank you duke5a, but I always believed that the AMC'ers were the black sheep. You've opened my eyes.

I always like to root for the underdog. I really like the oddball stuff. Funny thing is my wife asked me if I could have any car what would it be. I said i already own it. My 77 Volare RR. My second choice would be the first year of the Dodge Viper.
