You can hit his bank with him and have your bank wire him the money or his bank will take your debit card and give you cash. I've done it both ways.

There's more to painting than can really be covered here. Find a good book or some videos, or a local bodyman you know who does good work can talk to you. Basically, if you don't want that green car to look funny AFTER it's PROPERLY repaired, count on doing the whole driver's side. It's probably lacquer or enamel right now and nothing will match. All of the area of repair needs to be done and sealed with a good barrier (sealer) or you'll have a bigger mess than before. Once you are to that point, you can blend your best possible match of whatever green basecoat it should get, then clear the whole driver's side so that whole side of the car looks the exact same and you can't see different shades of green. It may call for a "Texas blend" but if it does, you have the whole side of that car and with the vinyl top as a cutoff you'll have all the room you need to do it and you wouldn't have to go over the roof and down the other side with your clear.

Maybe the owner is busy, but I've given him a couple of options for payments and heard nothing from him for 2 days. Ad is still up on Hemmings so I'm not sure what's up right now.

just FYI.

Give him some time. If not, catch the next one. He may not be online a lot, especially if he's older. I know I go long periods without using the email/internet.

I figure I'm in this hunt for a while.
I'll be loaded with obligations tomorrow (MRI, physical therapy for husband) and you know I have to drive to Dallas to turn in my crocheted afghan for the Texas State Fair on Fri/Sat/or Sun.

I bought my husband his birthday/Christmas present last week and they will get delivered sometime within the next 7 days or so.

Life goes on as they say.

Well it’s official. Guy refuses to sell it to me cause I am not local. Says it’s too complicated.

I think he wants someone to hand him cash in person.

The hunt continues.

My big question is, why would you bother to list on a national site where you hope to attract national attention, only to tell people, "well if you are not local I will not sell to you."?? The sad thing is the fellow paid Hemmings big bucks to set up he listing, and now he does not want to deal with national buyers who want the car. I'm feeling very confused on this one.;)

I'm thinking I should focus on sprucing up the fifth avenue.
But if anyone sees a 75- 77 cordoba, green, shifter on the floor ... I'll just have to get my hubby better so I can spend 2 days to get it. lol

I agree. What is this seller expecting? I bought OY sight unseen (except for photos and a local friends opinion) in January, and flew out to pick it up in July. The seller didn't seem to think it was "too complicated". o_O I transferred the $$ to his account directly from mine and it was no trouble at all. ;)

That is a good option too! At least you know what you have, and anything near the asking price for the Cordoba would go a long way to making your 5th your dream car. :)

It's still listed in Hemmings. That is one fine looking automobile. Maybe he might not be so difficult after several weeks unsold.

Well, no offense, but I'm pretty sure if I stood to pee he would have no problem working with me on it.

You're closer to it than I am.
I'll send you the money and you can buy it.
Have the transport guy ship it to me in Texas.

Or,
I found this locally:
1976 Chrysler Cordoba

Course the engine would have to be put back together and the seats are cloth and the hubcaps/wheels don't match.

Its a little cheaper and there would be no transport company involved.
Difference in dollars could go to have the guy down the road rebuild the engine.
Remove the gawd-awful window tinting and recover the seats.

Somebody locally will end up getting it for half his asking price in cash, then spend a ton redoing the body work. You lucked out, you just don't know it.

you realize I'm just mouthing off about the guy.
I don't really expect you to go get the car...
But that is sweet of you to follow up on it.

Oh stay away from that TX car! It has had so much bizarre stuff done to it in terms of wiring, and other strange mods. Plus I am not totally sure it is all one original car by what I see. I think several cars have not blended to make this one car. Run screaming!!

you are so right...
It has a tach under the steering wheel, the shifter in the floor is added cause the green housing for it doesn't match the rest of the car. Looks good from the driver side but beyond that ... ugh.

Lord only knows what they were doing to the engine.

I was thinking the same thing. Looks like it was similar to the one on HMN originally, but now, neglected, abused (no doubt), and just messed up. Shame.
JW, I was thinking that maybe instead of buying the Cordoba, you might want to take another long look at your Tempest and invest the money into that. Now that ole' '61 has got to be quite unusual and interesting! Just a thought. ;)
