Dave's 76 Roadrunner.....

Bringing back to life after 22+years

General Information

Owned since 1987, second owner, bought from a Family member....

Life took over and the car was left in a garage for 22+ years, kids all grown and moved out now ....

So I had my knee replaced (total) and was out of work for 3 months.... well about 4 to 6 weeks I got Cabin fever and started bringing back to life....

So I pulled all the plugs, put oil in cylinders and let set over night.... also drained oil over night..... with new oil and filter pulled distributor and intermediate shaft (oil pump rod) and primed engine..... clean plugs (and installed distributor and shaft)and fresh gas it fired right up no issues......

Cool! Another F comes back to life! the silver is nicely accented with the blue RR striping! Lots more pics and info are needed! ;)

Well, the fresh gas work for a little while, unfortunately it cleaned all the varnish out of the gas tank. After but in the car run a few times put it outside to get another car in my garage to work on next day I went to pull the road runner back in the garage and noticed it was started running really bad, then really really bad, then really really really bad. So I checked the headers and the Left Bank number one pipe was really warm and the other three will cold, went to the right Bank and all four pipes for normal temperature oh, really hot....

So I look down the throat of the carburetor and only have fuel coming out of one side, so I got to pull the carburetor and the gas tank and clean them both as well as flush out all the fuel line.....

The first picture is the same gas out of the same can oh, the one that ran through the gas tank and that's the amount of varnish it picked up, yes brand new gas

I'm still having a little trouble with the carburetor, not sure I'm getting the right kit LOL

But now I'm fighting and overcharging issue it is kicking my butt......

Unfortunately that’s our ethanol. Can you find ethanol free gasoline? That’s all I run in my Duster wife’s Volare.

Those are great carbs but can be finicky.

I'm actually going to start running Exxon Mobil 93, which is what the engine was initially built to run on......

By the way I'm still fighting with the carburetor I've got it off again

Well I am finally installing the TF 3 transmission manual valve body kit. Then I got to figure out what I'm doing with the shifter
