Rebuilding the fuel sending unit. Missing sock and the inside resister was broke. Haven't had time to reinstall it yet to see if it will work but hoping it does. Made sure to keep the original seal since not dry rotted just in case the after market seal crap leaks. Thank You
did mine and it worked great, check it with an ohm meter b4 you reinstall- made the sock for mine from fine mesh screen and a copper tube I drilled a million lil holes in... worked great till my dash shorted out and burned out my gauge...

If I am correct there should be a reading as follows on the meter. Empty 73.0 ohm. Half 23 ohm and Full should be 9.6 or 10 ohm.

What a pain in the butt. Got a NOS retainer lock ring and a NOS seal and it still did not feel stiff enough for my liking. I had to end up using three seals just to get the fuel sending unit to snug fit to my gas tank and these were factory seals.

So word of advice don't always assume that NOS means or guarantees a correct fit because it does not always. At least I have a fuel gauge working now and did not half to change my tank. Thank You

Nice work the interior looks great. What are your plans for the undercarriage.

As for right now I am uncertain if I will do anything under it at all. The entire under carriage is in really good condition minus one hole the size of two quarters in the driver side frame. I haven't got in a hurry to patch it up because the aspen is always in the garage 99% of the time and I mainly just drive it on the weekends.

The aspen does not ever see snow or rain here it is always happy to not be crusty. It still needs many things but if not broke there is really nothing to fix. Marty did hook me up with some really beautiful chrome NOS pieces I was needing last week if I recall. I am Still looking for a few more inside parts. Thank You

Never, ever use copper in anything fuel-related. It catalyzes the fuel and promotes its conversion into gum and varnish. That's why OEMs have not used anything made of copper in fuel systems since the Depression.

NOW you tell me... oh well, its just a small hunk of 3/4 sealed and perfed and considering my fuel line is more like a sieve than a hose... besides, next time Betsy gets parked she will be parted out for you guys to use in other cars so no old fuel left in her life! I couldn't find the screen at any local parts stores, NLA/OBSO is all they would tell me. . . . . :-(

Its a wagon, kids trashed the interior years ago but there are some parts that work well... back seats are good and the metal that holds all the plastic is still in usable condition, but I wont be parting it out till I wear out the slantie - and I only have 541k on it so far.... :)

Oh I understand completely. I pamper mine to when it comes to a led foot. I prefer low miles too. We spent a lot of money this year on baby beds for the grand babies since teenangers always need a little help with that. Plus I bought my wife's daughter a vehicle so she could get a job and go to school and learn the value of both in life. So I cant afford a new engine right now.

Your dealer is either unable or unwilling to use the locator and/or Parts Voice. If anyone else drops their tank and finds they need a fuel sock, the part number is 1670694. They're still out there, including a couple on eBay. Expect to pay a little more than the original dealer list of $6.25, but that's how the game is played.
The part number never changed, from the mid-'50s until the bitter end. It was even used on carbed front-wheel drivers in the '80s.

Replacing The Windshield

There were to places that looked pretty bad right in the center of the lower windshield. I removed the trim and used a flexible knife and putty knife and was careful not to damage the trim. Take your time so you do not damage your trim. Can be done without the proper tool you can buy. A cigarette break helped me.

As for the window itself doesn't matter it is coming out so don't care if I scratch it. I did notice I am able to use all old clips still but one. I then took a shop vac and cleaned all dirt and trash out of the window channel.

Will half to wait to install the new window there is no room in my garage and it is raining like crazy here right now. Here's a few pictures. Thank You

Well better late then never. Between the storms and snow and having to deal with fallen trees clean up on my property finally got the new windshield installed. Seems like there is never enough time in the to get all chores done. Here are a few pictures. Thank You
