Finished my cylinder heads tonight.

The air pump hole in the heads is 13/64" so a 1/4x20 tap threaded right in and a dab of muffler cement on a set screw and they are plugged off.

Thank you Captain!

So I know there isn't a whole lot of information about this so here goes.

The Magnum engine exhaust manifolds off my '92 Dakota were sitting on the shelf in my garage since I put headers on it about 3 years ago.

So I decided, despite what I've heard and read. I set about putting them on this car.

I'll start with the difficult side.

First things first. I seriously doubt these will fit with old, spongy factory engine mounts. My engine mounts are poly urethane and hold the engine rigidly in the mounts.

I lifted the drivers side engine mount to the top of the cradle, about 1/4" and tack welded the bolt washers to the cradle and then tightened the mount bolt with an impact. I forgot to take a picture, I will next time.

So here's how the drivers side manifold fits. Not going to lie it's a tight fit but still possible.

Grinding is involved, This is where this side is simply not a "bolt on" modification. I had to grind a bit of the manifold as well as a couple spots of the power steering pump but there is a hell of a lot of material to work with being that the part of the manifold you have to grind is right on the corner and is well over 3/8" thick.

Still fits and very functional.

Passenger side fits much better but still not a direct bolt on. The inner fender just touched the manifold while bolted down. A little pry bar work and the inner fender sheet metal is easily moved over.

The big problem was the damn trans dip stick tube was right in the way of the outlet. So I broke away the mounting bracket, drilled a new hole about 1/8" next to the original hole and cut off the excess and bent the bracket to match the tube which I just simply curved more upright and welded the bracket back onto the tube so it fits closer to the corner of the block.

The outlets on both manifolds are located in about the best spot possible.

So how was your Friday night? :D

Wow!
Gives the word tight a brand new meaning.
Nice retro fit.....
For my Friday night I just drank 426 beers with some friends
But now I have to go do gas lines with a five alarm hangover.

Very nice work man!
Just wild how tight that squeeze is...

i'm surprised they fit
I mocked up a set when I was painting my 5th ave and put the engine back in
didn't think there was no way in hell they'd ever fit
with how close the manifolds are, I don't thin the headers will fit

The Flow-Tech headers I had on my Diplomat wagon fit better then these manifolds.

What oh... this doesn't bode well for me trying to install Hooker Super Comps in the Mirada soon! Well, worst case, I have a set of these lying around too, so now I know how to make them work! Thanks for all the great pics.

I bought a set of headman shorties for my 5th, have to see how they fit

The Flow-Tech headers were long tube racing headers with the three drivers side tubes under the drag link and they fit great. Word of advice, it's easier to install them after removing the power steering box then it is to try and install them by lifting the engine.

Shorties should fit just fine.

Hooker makes a nice header and like I said to Mr.Lopar, remove the power steering box and the oil filter before trying to fit long tube headers in. Makes things a lot easier.

Then once you have the header in place just move it around to get the steering box back in. Piece of cake! :D

Depending on application/engine, sometimes you need to cut a section out of one of the RH header primaries, then squeeze it together and re-weld. It's to clear the AC box, and I know it has to be done on Super Comps when using a big-block engine. It's in the article I scanned & sent to kkritsalis, which addresses just about every issue of swapping a B/RB engine into an FMJ car without spending money on expensive swap parts or kits.

If tires weren't so expensive I would gladly oblige you. :)

Couple minor adjustments and she ran fast and hard at test and tune on Saturday! Corners like a dream!

Cold air intake installed. It was missing from the car originally so I robbed one out of another car at the farm and riveted it in.
