If you look in my cams and combanations thread the Ford 289 was originally going to be boosted, the entire motor is an odd combination. Big heads, long rods and a rare GT 40 crankshaft that I tripped over for 50 bucks. Truth is a ran out of cash that I could spend without my wife knowing about so we threw it together for now in a Ford block to see how it works. I need a Dart block for further development because it's close to the block limits now.

Opinions are like butt holes in three ways.

The thing is if you can pick up one thing that you can use or you have an a ha moment then it's a good dealer because you learned something. Maybe it's just making two things that you already know fit better in your thought process.

Nice info here. Never owned or got hand on v8. But by eu standards it is has okay torque easy to work and like the sound, for me thats matters.
But yeah. Like the way that there is an turbo option more easy like int/exh on same side, and strong build of bottom parts.

Just what should it take to build an turbo setup for say 300-400 NM (lb-ft? ;), so low revving low boost? For propane build only or and petrol.
Playing with an option for 4-speed for lower rpm for highway and higher gearing on the back (have seen an 8.1/4 here (2.7)). Goal mpg and easyer drive.
Or go like the way with modded NA.

    Sounds slow don’t it? Lol
My uncle has a 70 Duster with a slant engine, I’ve dreamed about builds like this. Doesn’t have to be practical to be fun lol

No way in hell I'm doing it but, that's what my Dakota 3.9L needs (video a few posts up). His numbers aren't that high but it's a heck of a lot better than stock which is rated at 175hp and 225 ft lbs. Mine is a bone stock 3.9L Magnum, other than a high flow cat that replaced the failed original about 100,000 miles ago and,,,,,,,,,,,it's a POOCH, especially off the line. To pass on a 2-lane highway, you have to plan ahead and back off some, then start accelerating before the last oncoming vehicle goes by. If you floored it from a dead stop, I'm not sure a glass of water sitting on the center console would tip over, lol It's pretty sad to be honest. on the plus side, it gets crappy mileage.

When the Chevy Astro came out in 1985 I made the mistake of getting one with the 4cyl 5 speed. It was gone within 6 months. It never even came close to that spectacular Motor Trend mileage they proclaimed because I had to keep it floored the whole time I owned it. Small engines look good on paper

A naturally aspirated 2.5L making 98hp @ 4400rpm in a 3500lb van. Well... not that good on paper.
