So my job (UAW journeyman maintenance) decided to put us back on 6 days a week, effectively eating my car wrenching opportunity until after the 1st of the year (and the holidays). So I'm gonna buy parts for it while I wait.

I want to install new springs and my 1967 b body 8 3/4 rear end in the future. In order to run CalTracs I need to order the AR110KIT from Mancini Racing, the 22" segment split monoleaf springs, and E body CalTracs, correct?

Any gripes with running these on the street? Is ground clearance an issue? I also have the aluminum k member bushings for the front, too. Thanks in advance! -Jason

There is a lot of cars on the road with Caltrack bars and springs, the only thing that I have ever heard is that they tend to make noise sliders included.

Dad and I are running them with regular leaf packs. Is this still a street car? If it is I wouldn't go mono leaf.

Yeah, it's a street car. I wasn't sure if the mono leads were required to for proper or better handling when using their CalTracs. My springs are worn and need replaced, so I was gonna upgrade from buying the Summit E body HD springs & buy the monos instead if they were better.

So how is your CalTracs car on the street? Is ground clearance an issue? Which springs are you running?

I'm trying to have my cake and eat it too with this build and so far I think I've succeeded. It's mostly a street car and it needs to handle, but traction is also a consideration. Mono leaf springs ride rough and I stayed away from sliders because of the noise.

Ground clearance isn't an issue at all. Springs are just five leaf packs I bought off the shelf at John R Spring 15 years ago. Converted to B body shock plates at the same time. Had to keep the rear sway bar and FF had the perfect bracket for it. The difference before and after with the Cal Tracks on the street was substantial: instead of going squirrely on launch on tracks straight. Need to hot the track still with them.

For what it’s worth I’m installing mono leafs and Caltracks on my little Fairlane with a narrowed 8.8.
One of the reasons I went with the mono leafs was because the Fairlane leafs are 2.25” and very prone to sagging. Caltrack makes brackets to mount the 2.5” wide mono leafs about the only thing that I’m not sure about is the sliders or shackles.
I don’t think I have any concerns with ground clearance because the lowest bar is still above the wheel, meaning that if you have a flat tire you wouldn’t drag a bar… per NHRA rules.
Centrally not as low as some of the slapper bars were.
