Not a CL ad but in MCG I spotted a for sale ad that made me wonder. It's for an '87 Dodge Caravan with 116K miles and the infamous (i.e. JUNK) 2.6L MCA Jet Mitsubishi engine. Asking price? $5,000:eek: I don't care if it looks like it just came off the showroom floor, a 33 year old mini-van isn't worth anywhere near $5,000. Maybe $500 but not 10 times that amount. Then again, people pay stupid money for VW micro busses so, who knows, he may get it.

Some mint condition CL vehicles. Can only imagine what the undersides look like, including brake lines, spring mounts, cab mounts, etc.

The only thing worse than VW's products are their customers. I wouldn't be on the same chunk of land as either one if you paid me oligarch money for the experience

I worked as an Audi tech at an Audi/VW dealer for 5 miserable years ('07-'12) before I got smart and GTFO and,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you pretty much said it about VW customers. They must attract a certain type pf person. Audi customers can be trying also. Not all of them but, a good portion who think they're better than you because they drive an Audi.

Yeah, that Dakota is all set up for 35's and no lift kit needed. lol! That used car dealer has multiple ads on CL and it appears, they sell nothing but the best. The best junk that is. Even at the low sticker prices, their still overcharging.

That Coronet could be such a nice car, it doesn't have to be a "clone" or a "tribute" of any kind. It's an old coronet for crying out loud, it WAS a beautiful car before they got to it with their creativity

Does JC Whitney still exist? I remember they had the bottom of the heap parts along with tons of do-dad's and chrome thingamajig's but haven't heard anything about them for a long time now. I've got a catalog from 1957 and you should see some of the things they sold back then:eek:

If you spent one cent ordering from them, I think that if you went into the witness protection program and they hid you in a tent in Siberia, the JC Whitney catalogs would find you for the rest of your life. No matter where you hide, 8 times a year you get 190 pages of gaudy wanna be pimp daddy crap you would never want to look at on someone else's car let alone your own.

I was looking at postal deep DJs on CL and found one. It ended up being POS. I found an 88 Diplomat in the same locale so I looked at that and decided not to get it, but it wasn't bad. I just didn't feel like adding either car to my collection of projects. The Diplomat (Fury actually) starts texting me and the price comes down gradually over 8 weeks to just about free. It's a good car. Needs gas tank and carb, tires etc. He was ready to junk it. The main reason he couldn't sell it is horrible pictures and he couldn't spell. Very hard to communicate with. I took a trailer and a few hundred. Took me a day to get it and register it

"Site cannot be reached". The catalogs find you forever but the internet can't find their site.:D

Ele115, I always have to laugh at the spelling in some CL ads. It's like, did they make it past 2nd grade? I know CL isn't a spelling contest but, come on. Then there's the word spelled correctly but the wrong version (noun, verb, pronoun, etc.). You know, like "there/their/they're" or in car ads "brakes/breaks". How about an Idalbreck manifult with a 4 barrow carbiriter and chrome valley covers (I saw that in an ad once)? The there's the famous Camero, Cordova or Volairy. Don't they even know how the name of the car they own is spelled? Sheesh.

This one............The ad says "fair condition, needs some work". I recognize this car because it was in the shop last summer. SOME work? The subframe rails are almost non-existent. The bolt in front suspension crossmember is rotted also and where the right end of the steering rack attaches,,,,,,,,,,,,barely is. Buyer beware I guess.
