Put 58 miles on her today....let the wife have first try..OMG

First of all I am 6 foot tall and my wife is only 5 foot 3 inches...with the seat all the way forward I will fabricate some wooden blocks and hold them on with some rubber bands or something else...we tried it twice and she stalled it three times...after that we went to Sonic and then a nice winding country road drive...I told her two watch and practice on her foot control...anyways it was 85 degrees and beautiful...I took the eyebrows off and used some synthetic rubing compond to clean up the headlight bezels...

sorry about the hairy chest and man boobs in the reflection...

Took out the driver's side alignment access plate

I call it the alignment access plate because it gives you access to the following...

IMG00791-20100926-1617.jpg

It was damaged by the brake fluid coming out of the mast cylinder...the top rails were rusted along with rust on the covers gasket...I sanded the rust off the top and scraped it off the gasket with a razor blade..it's not leaking anymore...

IMG00789-20100926-1459.jpg

All stripped of paint....

IMG00790-20100926-1528.jpg

and painted again with the same gloss VHT epoxy paint...I swear by that paint...good thing is no primer needed on bare metal..

Removed the rear cover....was a 2.94 and now is a 3.55

Cover was glued on with silicone...had to use a pry bar to get it to budge....scraped most of the silicone off and then used the proven MEK with a scotch brite pad and wah la it's all off there now...letting it drip until tomorrow night and if it is stopped I will put the new rear cover on...with the right stuff..

A little more wiring work tonight

Started the wire loom after I rolled the Aspen back on the other side...if you start something one way then you need to keep it the same all over...I cut and capped some unused wires and made some new connections for the electric choke..should be able to finish it up tomorrow night...great cool front headed here and due on Friday evening can't wait...

Got most of the wiring complete tonight...

Installed a new ignition coil today..the old one was old and nasty looking...finished cleaning up the wiring with exception to the area right behind the brake booster...will get it done when I remove the brake booster..got the new spark plug wires routed and was able to keep number 5 and 7 boots off of the header...fire in the hole tomorrow night to make sure everything works..

Got some more parts today...

Of course my wife hates when more parts show up...I do not hide anything from her but she thinks I waste time and money on my cars...I told her again to think of them as investments...well most of the resent gaskets from Summit showed up today...along with some new leaf springs...the car has some 33 year old ones and it has some air shocks on the rear..I am not a fan of air shocks so new heavy duty leaf springs and some good gas shocks...I started her up tonight...sounded bad at first...had number 5 and seven crossed at the distributor...switched them and it was good to go...everything still works..
