Alright boys and girls...the verdict is in.
Does it look good?
Not bad....
Does it look like chrome?
Nope.
Looks like aluminum just like every other chrome paint I've tried.
Now it's possible that the stuff you shoot with a gun looks better
But this stuff is a no go IMO.
Oh well....worth a shot.

it looks more reflective then aluminum it dont look half bad really maybe a buff might make it more reflective

I'll give it a try when it's totally dry but I'm not sure how buffable this stuff will be.
Seems like straight pigment like the usual chrome paint.
I doubt it'll hold up.
I'll give it a go though.

There was a write up on that too on FABO, again with excellent reviews.

Good to know...
Gotta be better than this stuff.
I had high hopes but I did kind of expect this result.

BTW...
Tried a light buff...
No way, the stuff just rubs off.

How about shooting it over dark blue instead of black?

Since i never saw his stuff, is it transparent looking after 1 coat? From what i have read up on this stuff if you put too much you get silver. Not to be a d+++ but did you follow the directions? I know i usually don't read them until later when i have a o sH++ problem. Do you think putting a couple of coats of clear and then buff will help? Maybe practice on a spoon first? If you go to H.A.M.B. forum and do a search there is a big thread on chrome paint on it. Just remember they don't lik our cars there and will yell if you post the wrong think. Not friendly but old knowledgeable grouchy people.

Good point about the coverage. If they mention to shoot over a colour they are expecting that to determine the outcome.

If not, why shoot over any colour?

Lol..yeah I did read the instructions.
And I did try a light coat first.
I suspect this stuff in the spray can is a different animal from the other stuff they have.
It does indeed come out like silver.
I'm guessing the gloss black in this case is to "fake" a shine.
Might be different results with the gun type stuff.
I'm certain it would be.
This stuff just shoots like any other chrome I've tried.
I'd still be interested in trying the other stuff but this aerosol stuff is a no go.
I tried a light coat..nope...
Hit it again..nope.

Black will make it reflect like a mirror. Example hold a black paper to a glass and instant mirror.I would guess that putting it over another color would just make silver. Maybe we could get the Capt to try a spoon with black look and a spoon with a different color and post it.The spoon he showed us didn't seem that bad.

All of the things I've read on this stuff has been in regards to the paint gun version
That's why I'd think you'd get a different result.
Mind you THIS stuff does indeed say to shoot over gloss black too.

For example...
Here's a piece of the paper I had it on.
It's coated so it didn't absorb.
This shot you can see a light coat over the black.
